If I may say so, Mackem, I think you may need to overcome your indecisiveness if you're to get any closer to audio happiness. ;)

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Anyway, indecisiveness usually just means you end up with 3 sets of cans instead of one biggrin.gif

Anyone have opinions vs. the VSonic VC1000? Is the DN-1000 worth the extra $80?

It's only the weight when being worn down that concerns me since it's not that practical for me to wear them over ear.

I suppose if you get a good fit the seal created may hold the shells up in your ear, but I don't know. You may just have to try them.

I wear them down without any problems.

I'm curious of these headphones. Is anyone able to compare them to the Westone 4 / W4? I searched the thread and found ericp10's brief, yet promising description, but I am wondering if there are any others who can contribute to the differences? Or maybe you can expand on what you hear, ericp10? The W4 has been one of my primary earphones for a number of years now mainly because of a few things: clarity, soundstage, and non-fatiguing treble. My only complaint is that the W4s do not have as much authority in the bass region (not to be confused with the mid-bass) as I would like. And by that I mean, it is only very slightly off in magnitude, but it is definitely less than desirable for me.

Edit: Oh, and one more thing, are there any pairs going around for listening/auditioning/loan?

Thanks!

No Westone 4 users? No auditioning happening? Mic check.

What sized tips do you use? I usually use medium sized tips for my IEMs.

Yes, me too.

I see. Am I right in thinking the isolation would be no better but no worse than most other IEMs including my Carbo Basso?

I had the W4s a few months ago so I can't provide any A/B impressions but lets just say that the W4s left after about a month while I can safely say that the DN1ks are here to stay.

The Dunus definitely fill out the bass better than the W4 (not to mention you can tailor it with the rings). The Dunus also have a little more extension in the treble to me. The W4 is more neutral but IMO definitely not as fun. The DN1ks strike a perfect balance between 'fun' tuning and analytical reference. The W4s were a little boring to me and perhaps a touch overpriced (at the time).

Price is a very subjective matter. Can't really compare sonic differences or increment to monetary value..
