Philips promotes their headphones like they carry the plague or something...

Does the L2 sound more like a closed or an open headphone?

More open than closed sounding!! It still doesn't have the widest soundstage though but the depth is exceptional from the headphones I've heard. It does have the benefit of having more bass than the usual open-back

Thanks. It sounds like Philips have captured some of the advantages of both designs in the L2. I was thinking about this because the L1 is also semi open but a few people said that it didn't seem to benefit greatly from this. Apparently, you could get a better sound by covering the vents with your hands ie. they should have just made the L1 a closed headphone.

Fidelio X1: open-back

Fidelio L1/L2: semi-open back

Fidelio M1: sealed back (closed)

Could it probably be to soak the consumers in those markets for a ridiculous price (ca. $400) that won't fly in the U.S.?
