Philips Fidelio L2 - Page 10

I'm just assuming based on the massive price reduction I saw.

sounds right...I hope they improve the build. The l1 has a stronger build than the x1. I know we can expect new drivers.

It would be nice to have  LCD-2 quality sound at X1 prices.

its most definitely possible. Its not like the x1 is extremely far off. though the lcd2 is def another class.

True but he also notes that his opinion of the headphone as a whole is not equal to how highly he rates the driver. That said, I am enjoying them smily_headphones1.gif

L2 soundstage is better. L2 have better depth dan 3d

AKG K550 soundstage feel artificial although wider

Good news. Have you tried them ? And how are the bass ? Because they are very punchy and well defined on the k550‚ and it's a good point for movies.

Of course i tried them

L2 Bass is so much better compare to K550. L2 have more Bass, deeper bass and still puncy and well defined

Already Sold my K550 though. Actually the reason i sold my K550 because lack of bass and to bright for my taste

For movies L2 > K550

I found the K550's too thin and bright actually… with the mids rather recessed… and bass rather light. I find the L2 to be an improvement in almost all if not all aspects. Also, I concur, although the K550's soundstage is slightly wider, it sounds rather unnatural as just doesn't sound as open and enveloping. Maybe the K550 would be better for monitoring. Just my humble opinion

Agree.

What i like with these headphone (K550 and L2) are clean, zero grain, and black background

but tonality L2 is better

L2 = K550 with good bass and improvement in almost all aspects

Rather out of topic but what do you think I should get: Fiio X5, JDS Labs C5D, ALO International? They all have relatively good (onboard) DACs and amps… I'm just wondering which would get the best SQ of course with the L2… hmm

^not off topic

Hey so from what i read about these hp's the bass impact is what is lacking to make them sound musical. I would imagine that if I picked up a pair of these in february(they must hate AMERICANS) that I would really appreciate the clear transparent sound and soundstage but then sell them because of the lack of impact.

How does the bass impact compare to a momentum and a k550. Be honest with all fanboyism aside. I also read that the treble is a bit much but if it has less treble quantity than the k550 then that is far from the truth because the k550 is not a super bright hp though it is a little bright.
