SallyMae... think you need the help of Santa to get a ZX1

a little Bear & Hare might help,  just for you:-

Mython...I preordered but already sold my Miracles....so I can tell you how it sounds unamped with the SE5.

iPod Classic has poor SQ. iPod Touch 4/5 rank with the best mp3 players on grounds of SQ. (EQ apps help a lot bring out the awesomeness).

These are individual opinions and there's no need to mention IMO in each and every post. There is no absolute truth but there is a consensus.

Does anyone know if the sony HX master amp offers better SQ than the MX master amp, found in the first Z and F series?

To those who has had a listen to the new zx1, F880. What was the biggest improvement or change compared to the SQ over the MX master amp?

I would hope so.  But who know, the differences/improvement may just be confined to hi-rez playbacks.

I would fill this DAP with my 320 kb VBR files and be happy with the HX Sound Features too I think. I hope this is no sacrilege for hi-rez fans.

Yeah, I'd just use 256 VBR AAC files, or 16/44 ripped FLAC files. I don't believe in the HD formats any more.

It is not about believing, it is about hearing.

Not really... I don't say that HD formats bring new hearing experiences, however they are limited at best. The reason because I'm acquiring a NWZ F886... is for better hardware compared to my S545.

This topic is probably irrelevant here and best brought to the Sound Science section.

Agreed, I tend to stay out of the debate. Suffice it to say, the real difference between something that you buy from HDTracks or Acoustic Sounds, or someone like that, is that the re-master the tracks in a good way.

Touche.

Although I have been a fan of everything I've gotten from Acoustic Sounds. HDTracks has had issues at times.
