Dont know whether to pre-order this and wait for 'PRICE-DROP', knowing that the battery is not interchangeable without breaking it open.

I was at Sony Store yesterday and they dont even know when the next walkman is coming out!:duggfloat:

Sony store staff never know when anything is coming out, so they have us think anyway...

Apparently, Sony are quoting 32hrs, but that's meaningless, since it's for 128kbps mp3 playback - in other words, it's typical disingenuous smoke-&-mirrors marketing B$.

I'm guessing it's probably going to be 15-18hrs with Hi-Rez.

This is something trading standards should of clamped down on years ago where they dress it up by quoting a maximum with a million hours of playback time with a * denote star + scroll down to bottom of page to denote to see maximum battery time based on as long as it is in standby mode using Mr. Fusion nuclear power from a Delorean!

It sure would be crazy if Sony was marketing a audiophile player quoting 128kps as it's source for  battery stamina.  Ferrari would not say their 595 does 100 mpg with a denote at bottom of page stating only if on back of a tow truck when in reality it does approx 19mpg and that's if you don't hammer it!

According to this specification it looks like it has maximum power output 5+5 mW. It wasn't hard to find it :P

In my opinion 15+15 mW would be quite enough for most IEMs/CIEMs. My NWZ-X1050 (5+5 mW) has enough power (I don't go beyond half the volume range) for my XBA-3, MDR-EX700 and MDR-1R, so for me 15+15 mW would be definitely enough. I think...

Well, if the Z is 5+5 mw pc then the ZX1 if it's 15mw pc will be even better for my JH16 which is very easy to drive on the X & Z series Walkmans already and my Sony MDR-7520, Z1000 & MDR-R1 should be better on the ZX1 as even though on the Z1070 it was enough on the loudness side it was not enough still to push it dynamically leaving them sound week and brittle to listen to despite those cans still been at only 24 ohms.

So not really sure what the last several pages of fuss has been about  last several pages really.

My biggest gripe has been Sony have still not reverted back to headphone jack in top with the playback buttons on top like the Z as that is the better location for them than down the side for when you have it in a pocket.

Small thing but was a deal breaker on the Z in the end for me with that stupid Walkman button concoction they dreamt up a while back.

On a slightly sadder note, I've booked my holidays to Oz and it looks like I won't be back in time to collect my ZX1 when it's ready. The release date is targeted for around 5th Dec, however I'm only returning back on the 10th. No early impressions for the audience here unfortunately.

Well, your just going to have to cancel or re- book your holiday then aren't you, how inconsiderate.... you could have a holiday any time of year, but ohhh no you have to go when Sony release their most anticipated Walkman yet!

Lucky I'm looking at getting mine on release date lol

Enjoy your holiday Anakchan, well send you a postcard with impressions on ZX1..

Nah it's a demo unit only. I won't be buying this, and might cancel my preorder for the zx1 for now and would wait for it to be released first....

Oh...I was hoping to read your impression as you own Ak120, Dx50 and 901......

Oh God! I'm stoked> I want the ZX1 NOW!

Can anyone pre-order the ZX1 from the US?  The wait is killing me.

Off topic: did anyone get to physically check out the new interconnect for the WM-PORT for the PHA-2?  It has both the 3.5mm with microUSB together.

You can preorder from Mars or Venus if you want through PriceJapan.

It doesn't seem too bad but the site kind of sucks.  Has anyone pre-ordered their ZX1 with PriceJapan yet?  I am thinking about getting it with the PHA-2 together.

I have. Price Japan is reliable.

Thanks.  One more silly question: does their from accept multiple items?  I looked at it and it seems to be for single item only.  Also for the payment do you need to add that 5% yourself or you can just add up the cost of the quoted items?

How so?  I guess I missed that part.  I already have the F807 and AK120, and do you think the ZX1 will be on par with that or somewhere in between?

I hope zx1 is WAAAAAY better than the F886 as I'm not even sure if I feel F886 is an improvement over F806 in terms of sound.

I was quite optimistic that ZX1 would be close to or even better than AK120 and thus pre-ordered it as soon as I find a store that is willing to take my money.  I'm now less optimistic than before based on the F886.  Also the rapid rate that iBasso is improving their DX50's UI also made me less anxious to jump onto another DAP.  Now we need some folks in Tokyo to restart the hype enthusiastic train to keep away my doubt/anxiety and keep us excited until December.
