Yeah, you're just paying for the brand Somes.....For these type of devices I usually much prefer a silicon TPU case......

The ZX1 will not join that list although Sony will not sell that many.

I have the SCD-1 and is now sitting at my brother's home.  Experience some servo (tracking) problem over the years and for sure it plays a very important part in Sony's history.

That is feminist propaganda, try forcing children to like something and see what happens. Girls naturally take to pink because it is bright and cheerful. Boys like Blue because it is the colour of the sky. Girls tend to look down and boys up. It is built in to all our brains hardwired if you like much like opposite sex attraction. No choice whatsoever.

Pink or not pink is not important until it affects the resell value....

Back to the topic... from the look of it, ZX1 is not getting a global release...  I have observed that this player is not listed in the Sony High Res promotion in Hong Kong.... so I guess at least it will not be distributed to Hong Kong....

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Japan only. Should still be pretty easy to get elsewhere. And I imagine they're doing as little work as possible to port Android over from one of their existing devices, so language support (hopefully) won't be an issue.

I was just looking at it from the warranty perspective, but I guess the chance of needing that sevice is pretty slim....

So what happens if you need to send it back. Are you screwed? I don't know why they make decisions like with the f887 and not selling it outside Asia. Especially when it's a device that's been marketed to play 24/96 files, which are larger in size. Some of my 24/96 flac files are over 100mb in size.

I have never had a warranty issue on a device like this. But you would have to find a way to get it to Sony in Japan if you did.

will be a touch rough.

Sony products have been very reliable.  I couldn't think of one that have gone bad on me beside my Sony Qualia 010.  Still, I was able to contact the Texas Service Center and get them to service the headphones for me.  What I meant by servicing is sending it out to Japan for a repair.  So it can be done but shipping back and forth internationally will lengthen the down time.

there could be a nasty downside to it being Japan only - export prices could go silly with japanese sellers capitalising on its exclusivity

Which is why I really hope that it's on sale when/if I am passing through in December, as I am currently planning to be.

Why wouldnt it be? Amazon JP listed in stating early Dec... Sony wont pull a 'iSpasso" on us and delay it for one week... Or this will get sold out immediate after the release?

Any product from any company can run in to delays, or run out of stock.
