It's pretty obvious to me that you either have a defective plug on your headphones or defective socket on your ZX1. Get the unit checked out. Plug the headphones into another ZX1 and see what happens. If it's the same thing, then consider replacing the plug on your headphones. If it's better, then you know the ZX1 is to blame.

The ZX1 is rootable? Time to hit Google. This would be a very handy feature for further automating mine as part of my car stereo integration. smily_headphones1.gif

Xrecode II will convert whole craploads of music Files read from Folders. You can load as many as you want at on time, then it coverts them all sequencially. The only issue I have is, I cannot figure out how to get it to put the newly converted files into a new Folder. It does put them anywhere you specify, but all together. There may be a setting that creates new Folders but I haven't found it yet. If somebody knows...please chime in. Otherwise it works fantastic...Drag-and-Drop...ThumbsUp

And Xrecode can handle ATRAC?

Yes it is. The instructions were in Japanese I believe. Someone had posted in this thread about rooting it. I have yet to hear about this being rooted while running V4A...which could really change the SQ significantly IMHO.

With the original firmware it was. Not with the latest update. Have a search for "root" in this thread and you'll see the posts.

Artstar,
Here's one that says it can do ATRAC and it's Free:  Switch Audio Converter

"Up to 32000 files can be converted in one batch"

I did check that but thought I was missing something, hence why I asked the question. smily_headphones1.gif

Anyone compared the ZX1 to PCM-D100?

If my ZX1 supports ATRAC, it's one of the fabled models made for the Japanese domestic market ? Can someone clarify the earlier cryptic comments please.

that would be the ultimate source for the Hugo.

Sorry for the OT, but I curious why the Sony PCM keeps showing up on the threads.  Are they that good?  What makes them so good?  I know they are used as mics, is that why they have quality components inside?
