Many times I've seen grey market stuff there, which means it's a damned-useful place for UK geeks in search of the latest-&-greatest electronic gizmos.

See if you can guess where I may be visiting, soon after the NW-ZX1 is released?

How about ebay?

No No, sorry about that. Sound quality is good through headphone and line out (on my PCM-M10) but playback software sucks in terms that you cannot play random tracks (shuffle), you can only play folder by folder, you don't have options to organize your library and let's say, play by artists, or create playlists, etc. etc. It's main purpose is being a recorder so its software for playback is pretty primitive.

Like you said, it's main purpose is a professional audio recorder. I don't see Sony ever deviating from that priority over any other fancy playback functionality that one would see in a consumer product.

guys, did you also check out PCM-D100 ? SD card slot and DSD support, looks like the real deal..

It's a recorder, not a PMP/DAP. It's in no way optimized for playback.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony added DSD support to the F88x and ZX1 via an update like thet did to the Z with FLAC.

+1, but the Line Out to an external amp could be awesome, and if crude folder browsing is sufficient for one's needs (with no playlists, no shuffle, no sorting, no searching by artist/album/song), it could make a great bug-free substitute for several, equally or more expensive DAPs that have people jumping through hoops to use, with no end of workarounds, frustration, and waiting for firmware updates.

But for its headphone out, the PCM-D100 will surely disappoint, except perhaps for the most efficient of IEMs.

The problem is that D100 is way too bulky to use as a line out source... being practical and all...

I read that we can still do line out with ZX1 using a LOD... but the price plus a balance amp like RSA 71B or lightning is just AK120 all over again....

I hear you!  I would never consider the D100 as a "portable" player - it's likely to be very heavy, in addition to being too large.  It's too large even for stacking with most portable amps.

But it could be very nice in a "travel rig," where size and weight aren't as big an issue - where sound quality without reliance on an AC outlet is the primary objective.

If Sony makes this worldwide available, I am buying one. If not, I will decide between ordering FiiO X5 from local dealer or import ZX1 from pricejapan. Then I will have to choose carefully. Let's wait and see the reviews of both units ;)

I wish i could make myself wait,
Now ill be a pioneer again:))

I want pair it with my Theorem

by looking at the shape of the back of this zx1 (not totally flattened), i think will not be a nice look when stacked with an amp, especially the longer one like Theorem. But i know..outer beauty is the 2nd for you..sound is no1...right bro?...:D

BTW, after u told me...tomorrow is my Theorem day...hope you were right...so we both are happy owner :D
