but...can you still use the stock SONY player to play the music stored on the Seagate wireless or.... do you need to install the Seagate player to access those 'distant' flies  ?

You can do both but you can also access file from DLNA & Bubble UPnP apps as a NAS drive.  It will play hi-rez files from your Seagate Wireless drive.  I have an older 500GB version and it works perfectly.

Ko Jo KM 01 Brass Edition and Tsugaru Edition one of the best synergy with Sony ZX 1 Dap

Source : Sony Walkman ZX 1
Amps : Ko Jo KM 01 Brass Edition
Ko Jo Tsugaru Edition
Iem : Earsonic. SM 64 v1 and v2
Cable : mini to mini DIY with Sony LOD

High : crisp clear and very detail and extended high and clean
Mid : the best part from. Ko Jo is the midrange , so sweet and natural and intimate like from tube sounding Amp
Bass : very clean , detail and fast sounding bass
Separation : very good that I can very easy detect the instrument placement
Soundstage : wide and very good depth too
Hiss : no hiss
Background : black background

Overall :
Ko Jo KM 01 has best synergy with Sony ZX 1, has better clarity and the midrange sweet and intimate with better clarity
Bass sound so detail clean and fast with very good impact .
If you like Audiophile music and jazz , you should try with Ko Jo KM 01 , than you can hear more intimate
From Your Audiophile recording .

Ko Jo Tsugaru has refinement SQ from Ko Jo KM 01 Brass Edition , more presence more weight and has fuller sound

IMO

What do you guys think about the ZX1's line out?  I am really impressed with the ZX-1 despite its lower volume output than most.  Pairing with the Pico Power, the combo provide noticeably better sound compared to the ZX-1's headphone output.  The line out on my other Sony DAPs are less impressive sounding compared to the ZX-1 and barely any better than the headphone output counterpart.

Would be interesting to see how the ZX1 handles Tzar 90/350 IEMs.

not the same IEM's though Noble has released two headphones with high outputs (FR & PR IEM's), I'll ask Brannan for some thoughts when he has the ZX1 for the Axpona Show later this month & report back.

using the ZX1's line-out music seems airier & a tad more detailed(?), using L/O also results in the ZX1 handling older recordings better making them appear less cluttered (if that makes sense).

I'm with Rudi here.  I'm hearing improvements across the board.  I am normally not a big fan of amping a portable DAP, but the improvements are worth it on the ZX1 especially with a great sounding amp like the Pico Power.  I do have all the Pico lines and the ZX1+Pico Power combo is just excellent.  I'm wondered how much better is the AK240 to the ZX-1+Pico Power combo.

I phoned Sony UK this morning. Oh dear!! I'm number 16 on the preorder list. They think they are getting 7 on the 8th april then a further 13 on the 22nd. So i might receive around the 23 or 24th April. Although he did say that they might get more next week. TBH he didnt really know! Not his fault though.

If I hadnt got 20% discount and interest free finance on this I would've thought about cancelling.

I've given up on it now due to Sony UK. I know, should have kept my UK Japan order. Had 20% discount voucher and UK website would not allow pre-orders for a fortnight. Spent £40 on internet access while on a cruise trying to order ZX1, or in desperation the 886 which was then out of stock.

Finally Sony got 886 back in stock, Voucher accepted ...... hooray:D  Bought ... and then .... "sorry Purchasing website page down for a few days until 2nd April, please accept our apologies and a 5% voucher"

So, why do they not allow ZX1 pre-orders anymore, or an 886 order for when they return to stock? And when in stock (886), knowing that vouchers ran out on 31st March, take purchase page down for last few days. Mad.

Ordered X5 now and will wait to see if there is a ZX2 as I did love Fortis's ZX1.  I do actually possess 12 DSD albums!

Tonite i have done The comparison between AK 240 + Ko Jo Tsugaru vs Sony ZX 1 + With Ko Jo KM 01 :

Set Up A :
AK 240 + Ko Jo Blue Tsugaru Edition now Only 20 units

Source : AK 240 use line out
Amp : Ko Jo Blue Tsugaru
Cable : mini to mini Crystall cable Dream line edition DIY
Iem : Earsonic SM 64 v1 use Westone Star tips
Music file : WAV ,AIFF , FLAC 24 bit / 196 KHz
Power : is about 3 times from Sony ZX 1

My impression :
High : very detail , more weight but not extended like than Sony ZX 1 , more natural high not so crisp like Sony
ZX 1, overall better clarity
Mid : very natural and better weight , but less clarity
Bass : better Bass impact and more lower bass and full body bass , very good bass detail and very clean .
Separation : excellent , I can easy to know the music placement
Soundstage : wide with very good depth , these two is on par , because Sony has better clarity I hear like
Sony ZX 1 has wider soundstage but less depth .
Hiss: no hiss
Background : black background

Overall:
AK 240 win again Sony ZX 1 , high better weight and detail but not has extended high like Sony ZX 1,
mid more weight and natural , bass very good bass impact and fuller bass body , soundstage and separation are very good .
I turn the volume on 11 o clock = Sony ZX 1 full to the max volume on my Ko Jo
Sound quality more natural , I use both Single Ended , if I use Balance I am sure the different is more huge
And with DSD file until now is my best DAP

Set Up B :
Sony ZX 1 + Ko Jo KM 01 Brass Limited Editon 300 units

Source : Sony ZX 1 use line out with Sony Lod
Amp : Ko Jo KM 01 Brass Edition
Cable : sony lod + mini to mini copper gold cable mix DIY
Iem : Earsonic SM 64 v2 use Westone Star tips
Music file : WAV ,AIFF , FLAC 24 bit / 196 KHz
Power : only 1/3 from Ak 240

My Impression :
High : very good clarity , very good detail and more extended than AK 240 , less weight than AK 240
Mid : very clean and clear mid , more to mid high , AK 240 more weight and natural better pronounced
Bass : very good bass detail , less bass impact and less fuller and deep bass compare AK 240
Separation : very good for 1/3 price from AK 240
Soundstage : wider , I feel wider because Sony has better clarity , less depth
Hiss : no hiss
Background : black background

Overall:
Sony ZX 1 sound more to mid high , but for the 1/3 of the price from AK 240 , is one of my best DAP
High has better clarity more extended but not so full pronounce , mid sound to mid high less natural than AK 240
Bass: very clean and detail but less full body bass impact , bass not as low as AK 240
I feel soundstage is slightly wider because Sony ZX 1 has more clarity .but less depth .
Power is only 1/3 from AK 240 , I must turn the volume to max to get the same like AK 240 on my KoJo
Overall sound thin not has so fuller sound , for clarity is one of the best DAP with excellent clarity
Sound quality slightly more digital

IMO

Couldn't agree more.

I wish I'd gone for the interest free, so at least they only had one payment banked for a month, not everything.

I asked them to confirm today when they really would receive and they have just ignored the mail

At least the kit seems reliable, as getting after sale support would appear futile :D

thanks for you thoughts Rudi, it appears there is swings & roundabouts owning either DAP... it will be interesting to read your thoughts after the ZX1/F88X firmware update this month.
