It's just a permissions issue, but you need root access to move the apk off the sd partition. Usually just installing from Google Drive works as a workaround.

How do you get the playlist into the ZX1? Is there a playlist file format or a folder I can put the file into? If not, the next best thing I can do is make playlists as individual folders, and just organize everything by playlist In case anyone else is stubborn about using itunes, I'm trying out iSyncr and seeing how it works. It was brought up in this thread early on. Hopefully it works well.

1) Click on playlist and click add new smartlist

2) Right click on smart list, click on rules and apply what you want to sync, for example, genre is any and then check the genre, you can add another rule & go deeper into specific albums, artist, bitrate, etc.. click ok when done.

3) Plug in your ZX1 and click device and drivers and Sony Walkman (ZX1) will appear, click on sony Walkman

4) Click on option at the top

5) Option box appear, click on all relevant to you like Auto-sync on connect etc. and then check the playlist you want to sync, you can click multiple playlist or even all audio for everything in your library

6) Click on conversion and you will see a list of options, if you click mode as original, it will sync as you already have in your library, click on encoder if you need conversion, you will be able to select from a host of formats like ALAC, AIFF, Ogg, uncompressed wave, DSD and more.., click on encoder setting is for setting the bitrate like VBR, CBR, 128, 160 ,320kpbs etc..

7) Now check if it can fit into ZX1 by checking the action window at the bottom, and if it fits, click sync (example shows 52.1gb over capacity) so either compressed it further or removed some songs.

8) Going forward, you will only plug your ZX1 and it will sync automatically according to what you have set and it will auto updates every time you put a new songs, album or change album cover, it will sync all these to ZX1. All cover arts are also sync over to ZX1.

9) Bonus- The Jriver has one of the best sound quality if you connect it to an external Dac as it has these options output mode like ASIO, WASAPI, Direct sound etc.. an audiophile dream (Itunes can’t do this)

10) You can also see each individual playlist organize the way you want it. For example, you can organize by genre, album, artist or any order you like, instead of a playlist that is 8,000 lines long. (Itunes can’t do that)

Even more bonus, you can move cover art to a single locations (Some DAP requires that) or create a JPG folder in your library and move the album arts accordingly (Sony ZX1 requires this to pop album art).. All these are done with a few clicks automatically (right click on all albums -> cover art-> Save cover art in a specific folder in options). You have to set the options first before you do this - like this

~~Enjoy your Jriver media center, I absolutely love it as its much more easier than Itunes..

Oh? Being able to display artists/albums in the playlist sounds really interesting. Does that carry over to the ZX1? I want to be able to go into my playlists and find it subdivided into artists.

Also, i'm having a bit of a trouble with some song information, which ends up looking like gibberish, (even though it looks fine on the computer), and some embedded album art doesn't show up, again which shows up on the computer.

Sorry, this is getting more like a "how to use" android question instead of relevance to the ZX1. I might want to take this to pm soon if i have more questions....

Oh and also, do any of you find the stock player... To be lacking? In ui functions etc? I was wondering if there are any better alternatives for android.

Yes it does, Cover arts has to be in folder as file. go to option, file location, cover art and save location as file. Once you have done that, ctrl A (select all albums), right click and cover art-> Save cover art in a specific folder in options. You need to wait for 10 mins as it create another cover art in the same folder as the songs. Once done, re-sync ZX1.

To see the playlist as artist with album art- right click on any of the panes and change these:

View as - Parent scheme

Command - Click artist, and then album (or whatever order you wish)

Included files under settings - click set rules for file display, add rules - playlist is any sony walkman (your playlist)

I have not experience gibberish text, Do you have foreign language as file name?

Yea, most of my music has Japanese text for the song title/artist/album.

I tried Poweramp, and it imported the music correctly. And also did not skimp out on the album art of some.

I wonder, is there a disadvantage of not using the native music player? I do quite like the interface of Poweramp.

Yes there is some minor disadvantage over sound quality, the stock to me sound the best. Its very subtle really and you have to listen back and forth the same tracks over and over again to get that differences. Most notable differences are the mid bass, and attack are lacking in power amp compared to stock. Poweramp with clear audio + switch sound horribly wrong for some reasons and I dunno why this is so.

But I simply luv the poweramp UI, so smooth, fast and all touch responded so very well.

I have been juggling a couple of portable rigs and this hasn't been getting much playtime so no point keeping it anymore.

Still preferring the iPhone and PHA-2.

Although the ZX1 + PHA-2 is a great combo, but I'm getting tired lugging too many devices around.

Not on my Fitears. They are too sensitive, need an amp to go along.
Another good thing with the iPhone (for my case), i no longer need to deal with missed calls! biggrin.gif

quite surprised to read this , I have an Iphone5 and think it is the worst music player I have ever heard.

I was about to pull the trigger on the Sony and now read people are selling already?

What's the problem with it?

Will it drive on ears like DT1350/ ES10 ok?
