Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model - Page 292

@ delancyst: I think this is way to subjective to make a good answer. I think it is loud enough but I am still hoping for a comparison with an non EU one.

I did a Test now: Cowon J3 vs ZX1 same song same earbuts (as the only one I have two from they are the ones that came with the Iphone 4s) each player one ear. It is not easy to be precice, but the covon is about the same volume as the ZX1 when reduced to 35 from 40. I switched the ears and tested over and over again and sometimes I thought maybe more 34 sometimes 36. So I go with the 35. For those who do not have the J3 or tze ZX1: The Covon counts volume in 1-40 steps (when NOT EU-Volume caped) The ZX1 has a sidebar without numbers.

Anybody any thoughts on this?

So a player that you know basically nothing about has you on the edge about a player you haven't taken possesion of? The last acouple Cowon Anrdoid devices weren't exactly superstar performers. And Sony has access to chips like the OMAP in ZX1, versus the kinds of chips that Cowon uses. Like the telechip in the D3 which had issues with app support.

And there will be always something at the horizon. Maybe now they are coming some more highend DAPs just because the companies learn, that we are willing to pay big bugs on dedicated DAPs rather than use our phones for that purpus. So you only have to decide when to buy and how much your budged will allow. Waiting for the one and only with one eye on the horizon and one at existing players might keep you a long time in which you could have had a lot of fun with good musik.

Having a perfect DAP might and might not be possible since audio tends to be a very subjective manner. On my side, having a phone isn't that bad... as long as I have control of how the audio is given output from it. With the amp I cannot go wrong with any kind of source device (as long as it supports it). Even then there are several differences amongst amps and again, this is subjective for each person, ones like sony, others don't... etc. But hey, I like sony signature from quite a while already, hence, as long as I like out it sounds am fine :)

Yup, thats my consumer blood roaring, always on the look out for something better. Of course, that doen't mean I wont like the ZX1, but newer things will always put me on the edge.

In the case that Cowon actually makes a player that surpases the ZX1 for my uses, I'd probably just sell it off on the forums. I dont mind taking a loss. It probably wont be much anyways.

@ EvaTan Year well to be honest... when I toled my husband I will be buying the ZX1 (having the J3 one B&O an older Sony and a SanDisc Sansa) he ask if this might be the last one for a while now. I tolled him not to count to much on this. So look who is talking here.

Sorry when I sounded like a wisecrack.

The 240 has too much wasted "space" ergonomically. Even if some claim its not that bad when holding it, that's still bad design imo.

For my eyes it is the ZX1. I think it so elegant and beautiful. The AK240 is not to my taste. Though I like the 256 GB. Maybe the next Sony has more GB or a SD-Slot. For now I am pretty happy with my new toy. I LOVE the dedicate bottoms with their different sizes all on one side. With the J3 it often I took the wrong one and ended up in skipping when I just wanted to adjust volume.

Well it goes loud enough for the P7's. There's a beep and an on screen warning if you suddenly turn the volume up high. Does the Japanese one have that?

Thanks purk and sicko for passing code on. I'm on holiday abroad and having problem finding wifi, but just found a place and tried ordering from Sony UK. It says out of stock and there does not seem any way of pre-ordering for next batch! Is this same for everyone?
