Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model - Page 289

It's not native playback though.
Sony is going to pull it off via DSD to PCM conversion, with the downside of a bigger tax on battery life.

Long history short, the XBA-H3 are a bit more dark, IF using the F886, using the PHA-2 they balance themselves quite nicely. XBA-30 sound a bit more flat, although medium and high frequencies are almost the same as the H3. Ergonomically, the H3 is far superior to the XBA-30. Overall best sounding: H3, bass is too precise and dry, it feels really great, as in having a buffer... but of course you are still missing the visceral feeling of it.

Get the Cruzerlite indeed...it is great. I combine it with the Vannuys when travelling.

Ask Peter at DHC, he can do ZX1 cables but they are not on his site.

Pretty much as I expected. Probably worth it to just convert before putting it on the device.

Sony Store UK orders have started shipping.

I'm waiting for them to confirm my order, I also asked them when they expect stock.

Do you know whether the Australian stock is coming from Japan. I don't think the ATRAC issue will bother me but a volume cap might?

Hopefully it isn't European stock with the volume cap.  The email didn't contain a shipping date - I guess it's just a waiting game now.

The ones from Japan do not have the volume cap? Are the menus in English or in Japanese?

I'm guessing the units for sale outside of Europe do not have the volume cap (US/Canada/Asia/Australia).

Correct although they have a treble cap.

it is only in Europe you get 'capped' if at all... the menu is set to Japanese but two clicks and it is in English, the option is given straight away when you first turn the ZX1(F887) on.

Got'cha.

My Japanese one sure seems to have a volume cap. I know that the published spec says it puts out the same power that the Clip+ does, but it's definitely not as loud. So they all have a volume cap from not enough horsepower.
