I've been doing the maths for the likes of pricejapan and other Japanese middlemen and a Japanese version will still come in at around £520 all in so for once the UK price of £549 isn't a huge rip off. I can't for the life of me pre-order from Sony though. What a truly useless website.

the actual cost from Price Japan worked out at £480 delivered to UK (FedEx)..

Accessory-Jack will do you a deal on Customs but you will have to ask before you purchase, the actual price incl shipping is £455 not sure about tracking but will probably be EMS.

Prices must have gone up then. There's a 2500 yen bank transfer fee or 3.5% for paypal and the lowest they'll mark the value is 12000 yen. Total would be £500 + duty.

I think I read a thread a few pages that someone prefer zx1 with jh13 (I have) over 901 or some other players, I forgot.
The ZX1 is at its best with my SE5. And it sounds great with the 846 that I do not own...yet.

Japan was putting up taxes on consumer-goods, that could of come into effect now perhaps Anak could confirm or not.

we pre-ordered in October if I remember right.

for those thinking of pairing the ZX1 with the Hugo... Chord supply the required USB lead with the Hugo that works in conjunction with the Sony USB-Adapter.

I'm a bit late to the party unfortunately. I might as well wait for the UK release now, better resale value if nothing else.

I have three final questions:

  • Will the EU version be volume capped?
  • Can I listen to Dark Side of the Moon gapless?
  • And if so which file format will work gapless?

Thanks

I'm contemplating a purchase when available in the UK.

Does it have a channel balance control?

I also found the charges kept increasing with paypal fee and other charges if using the recommended courier when I was about to order. If hit with a £35 Customs charge it was exceeding the UK fee so decided to wait.

Mine came earlier than expected - :L3000: - and I can confirm that both Apple Lossless and AIFF work just fine in all their gapless beauty.

I tested that combo before, end up prefering S-em6 / TG334.
