Anyways, would the ZX1 make a good fit for my F111? I mainly listen to classical, jazz and pop.

I have the same question. I am a little worried that the combination may be too bright.

I find the F111 to have treble roll-off like many other fitears. The pairing with ZX1 may just make it right.

This processor is more than capable of running lag free. Android is to blame here. Have you ever used a Cowon J3? That thing is so underpowered in the CPU department its funny. But since their won OS is so light and finely tuned there is no lag whatsoever. Not even a little and their touchscreen UI is one of the best I've ever used in a portable device.

Heck even the X5 has a much less powerful cpu and it will not lag compared to the ZX1.

Hopefully developers move to this and put other versions of Android or other OS altogether to make this perform better

You beat me to it. If Sony would allow or has plans to make Version 4.4 which is 4.1 optimized, it would fix that slight delay and more.

And at the same tile, make a 256 Gb version :D

Your calling for a new player. I'm referring to a simple software/Firmware update which Sony easily could/should make available.

Is the UI response any worse than a AK100/120?

I don't have the AK100/120, I was referring to the CPU in the Sony having more than enough power for it's intended task.

A simple software update would fix the very small so called problem.

I understood that the XZ1 can streal from a Wifi HD.

So, does this mean that if I attach a small Wifi battery operated HD to the XZ1, I can have a VERY BIG capacity that will behave exactly as if it was inside the XZ1 ?  Or do I need to transfert the files first before playing them ?

A couple things, Streaming from a portable hard drive requires a DNLA server built into the drive. I was checking the Seagate wireless plus and it only talks about DNLA via a home network as well. You also need a built in hot spot to generate IPs and the server built into the drive. The Patriot Aero may work  for this but even then streaming quality probably wont be as good as the onboard storage and wireless is often limited to less that top res without going onto buffer over runs. It appears viable but not to the same standard as onboard memory. I think this feature, while very useful, is overstated as an equivalent alternative for onboard storage.

I think the UI response of the ZX1 is much faster than the laggy firmware of the AK100 and AK120. I find UI response of the ZX1 to be as smooth as your average smart phone.

I run Minimsever on my Synology NAS and just tried the DLNA setup on the ZX1...The folders loaded up in about 15 secs, and access was immediate, amazing!

Oh my, it is excellent! I am taking the view that it is bit perfect and not down-sampling, can anyone confirm this?

This will be a very good news.  Does that mean that with a portable battery powered Wifi HD attached to it (like the Kingston MobileLite Wireless), the ZX1 suddently get huge capacity !  ... without downsampling the 24/192 ???

But then, can you play the audio files as easy as if there were internal ? through the same player UI ?

Yes, just chose

It then goes into folder view for all the categories.

Album art is present when you hit play....................

Edit:

I think it will depend whether that portable HDD has a multi-media application for the files to be streamed and accessed...
