I do have some stuff listed up for sale where I can buy it again where I don't really feel it but there's some stuff coming out soon that I might look into but the ZX1 is a pretty high standard.

rawster, I am seriously sorry to hear that. I can't help you much but maybe give a suggestion. Would you consider FiiO X5? It won't break your wallet and it might be a good surprise to you.

Again, I wouldn't want to be in your place man, that sucks.

that's terrible news... hope you get things sorted.

Is the default Sony one not up to the task? I've used Neutron, Winamp and Poweramp, but ended up back with the Sony one.

They are for most part except there is no way to sort by genre then album. it goes genre then artist.. its a headache for me as I have lots of compilations and it will list 100 of the same album with only 1 track in it  because the artist is diff, so my classical genre has thousands of single album art of only 1 track... and there haven't figure out a way to change that settings.

okies, firstly I have no direct links to Chord Electronics but they are local to me.

I started talking to Chord a few months back about the QuteEX as I was contemplating switching from physical music system to a PC based one... I heard about the Hugo and wanted to know if I could use the ZX1 as a source, so I asked if they wanted to demo my ZX1 (&F887) with the Hugo which was taken up by them.... obviously with the launch of the Hugo at the CES they were too busy to really investigate things, today they paired the ZX1 with the Hugo for the first time as a Source-DAC/Amp combo... this is all I've been told so far apart for a request for a Android Hi-Res Music app.

if you know Chord you should be salivating at the prospect.... I still have a vintage Granny for sale if anyone's interested (before I list her on Ebay).

Yeah the x5 is definitely an option but so is buying the zx1 again. I'll have to see what's out there when I'm ready to buy.

I'll have to slum it with the X3 for a while until I can save up to buy another one. I would think about the F887 but it seems battery life is not at the level of the ZX1 by a good amount.

I'd keep checking some listings on Craigslist and eBay, etc. in your neighbourhood. ZX1 is pretty rare so if thieves try to sell it this way, you'll get them. :)

Report back later.. Need some more burning and further testing..

Ok Here is my finding to the further testing.

The Answer is: M8 and ZX1 are both winner...

Here's the deal, both had a really good fight, the M8 came up top on the bass level. M8 bass is really something not many portable amps can touch, the closest one I heard is the ALO RX3  and to beat M8 in its own bass game, I need to call in the big guns aka The Zana Duex SE, but that's a completely unfair fight.. I know..

So how did ZX1 lost the battle in the bass dept, the M8 bass level goes deeper, punchier, had more power at the same time fast enough to match the ZX1 clean bass but that did not knock out the ZX1, the ZX1 superb clean bass puts up a really good fight, M8 merely give the ZX1 a bloody noose, not enough power to knock it down..  now the ZX1 really knock out the M8 to the floor on clarity of the vocal & its superb details. This is perhaps ZX1 greatest strength, its a very very detail DAP. An example would be the ending breath of the voice before the next breath can be heard so effortlessly, the fingers sliding down the strings are obvious enough to get my attention and wow, I never knew he was sliding that hard on the string.. .. & to add some insult to injury, the zx1 never sounded harsh or grainy. Now that is really something.

That being said, the M8 is no slouch in the detail department as compared to other amps including desktop amps. But it just can't touch the ZX1. I am not sure if I have heard another portable amp as detail as ZX1.

So all in all, M8 has a special place in my audio life, its has too many features and it stay on my desk most of time, and if I am going out, I just slide the ZX1 in my pocket and I know it will sound very good..without a brick attached to it

I have come to the same conclusion, and I agree with your description of each DAP. My desktop rig is now comprised of my m8 and tu-05/th900. My portable rig is now the ZX1-3003. Couldn't be happier. Both combos compliment each other very nicely.

@rawrster
 sorry to hear about the news mate. I hope you're able to get compensated somehow through insurance, etc. I gather you have reported it to the police (plus whatever else was stolen).

@Audiowood
 & @woodcans
, wow that's a big + for the ZX1. I do agree with the comment that the ZX1's amp is not flawless & can be improved upon through external amping. That ZX1 DAC must be doing something special there. I still do use my ZX1 on it's own but with the WM-LOD I made, I use that occasionally with the TUR-06 to drive the Alpha Dogs and it's really brought listening pleasure to my ears.
