Ok Here is my finding to the further testing.
The Answer is: M8 and ZX1 are both winner...
Here's the deal, both had a really good fight, the M8 came up top on the bass level. M8 bass is really something not many portable amps can touch, the closest one I heard is the ALO RX3 and to beat M8 in its own bass game, I need to call in the big guns aka The Zana Duex SE, but that's a completely unfair fight.. I know..
So how did ZX1 lost the battle in the bass dept, the M8 bass level goes deeper, punchier, had more power at the same time fast enough to match the ZX1 clean bass but that did not knock out the ZX1, the ZX1 superb clean bass puts up a really good fight, M8 merely give the ZX1 a bloody noose, not enough power to knock it down.. now the ZX1 really knock out the M8 to the floor on clarity of the vocal & its superb details. This is perhaps ZX1 greatest strength, its a very very detail DAP. An example would be the ending breath of the voice before the next breath can be heard so effortlessly, the fingers sliding down the strings are obvious enough to get my attention and wow, I never knew he was sliding that hard on the string.. .. & to add some insult to injury, the zx1 never sounded harsh or grainy. Now that is really something.
That being said, the M8 is no slouch in the detail department as compared to other amps including desktop amps. But it just can't touch the ZX1. I am not sure if I have heard another portable amp as detail as ZX1.
So all in all, M8 has a special place in my audio life, its has too many features and it stay on my desk most of time, and if I am going out, I just slide the ZX1 in my pocket and I know it will sound very good..without a brick attached to it
