Not even a touch-screen. I love the minimalistic approach of the display-less MD players. Ah, the brushed magnesium...

I had two of the 40ELKs' cannot get more comprehensive in line remote to use than that, a timeless design in usability for me.  Not essential it was a touch screen but imagine most of the MD lid taken up by a screen that showed the album art & info in OLED on one of those and I think it would compliment the brushed magnesium finish okay.  That brushed magnesium finish is something they need to bring back on one of these new Walkmans soon.

We need more people who share this fantasy to incorporate this into the ZX2!

I don't think people have discovered the need for them, the requirement  has always been there from users.... it is when Sony decided to drop what is essentially a necessity feature from a model generation which is one of the main reasons I let my Z1070 go with that rather inept Walkman button they put on the side thinking that would really replace the playback buttons.  I can't see Sony repeating that mistake again (fingers crossed)

As for other manufacturers who decide we do not need tactile playback buttons then more fool them.

Imagine the ZX1 did not have tactile buttons on the side?!

I'd like to know if the UK shipped model will come with the annoying volume cap.

only a guess but as all previous recent walkmans have, i'd say a firm yes

I guess I've gotten some bad luck lately. My ZX1 was apparently stolen yesterday by some really good thieves. Thankfully my JH13 was not connected to the ZX1 or it would have been a bigger loss.

I'll have to slum it with the X3 for a while until I can save up to buy another one. I would think about the F887 but it seems battery life is not at the level of the ZX1 by a good amount.

Ouch, that sucks. :(

Thinking about this I tend to have my K10s hooked up to my ZX1 all the time. Maybe, it would be wiser not to.

True, but does the version of Android in the ZX1 has remote lockout or trace?  I think this is something to consider if you go mobile with your ZX1.  Not sure if Norton for Android will work for WiFi only devices...

p.s. this might help too: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/remote-device-lock-android-device-manager-security-factory-reset-gps,24382.html#remote-device-lock-android-device-manager-security-factory-reset-gps%2C24382.html?&_suid=1389966876269042068902685044657

p.p.s. Just check with the Android Device Manager, and it does work with my Sony F807!

Rawrster, that's a bummer, was it from your house or while out and about?

Thanks. Nothing personal was on the dap as all I had was my music files. I kinda wish I had a hm901 now a days it's a huge brick looking like it got stuck from the 80s.

It was when I was out and about. If it was my house it would have been much more than the zx1.

I might hold out for a bit and see what else I can get.

I do have some stuff listed up for sale where I can buy it again where I don't really feel it but there's some stuff coming out soon that I might look into but the ZX1 is a pretty high standard.
