Does not seems like sony is loosing in all market segment.

read the sony's market share in cellphones and u will understand what i mean.

i would be happy to discuss this via pm and not derail this thread with off topic discussion.

Do u turn it off when not in use?
What about shuffle, love that.

Also, anyone found a way to see whats playing w/t unlocking the player (with the stock player?)

I love shuffle and even more the "sensme" thing but they have always crippled the battery on any sony daps.

on the F886 any effect will almost halve the battery time. here with bigger battery and real amp the processing part must have a lesser impact, but still if you want to max out your use of one charge, desable everything!

Well, as you know, 'Flac' can mean many different resolutions. I would anticipate 24/192 guzzling the battery significantly faster than 24/96 or 24/48, 16/44.1 etc.

So that may be relevant to the differing battery durations different people are mentioning.

Hmmm, sounds like the original quotes of 20+ hours are coming down just-a-bit.......like similar to the AK120?

Most manufacturers usually quote their battery life with the most efficient codecs and bitrates.

Wow, I get way more than 10-12 hrs. I have a mix of 24/192 down to 16/44.1 too (about 40/60). Turok got 21 hrs but I've not tried continuous play.

Can try tomorrow.

I might be wrong, i am still tinkering a lot, changing amps and stuff, trying different iem.

Getting PHA 2 this week from Japan,

So does it work both dac , amp sections, see people reporting problems?

Maybe with Sony's own the battery dac performance would be better than with the Leckerton?

I know little about the PHA-2 & have only demoed it twice in the past week in the shops. Both times I liked the SQ (more than I like it's bulk or design :-P).

I already prefer the ZX1 over my former UHA-6Mk2 (sold last week) & I think the PHA-2 further improves over the ZX1 for my Alpha Dogs. So I'm going to have to assume that the PHA-2 would have outperformed my former UHA-6Mk2.

I never thought much about the PHA-1 back in 2012 but maybe I should find a way to compare the two side-by-side.

Thanks for your comments AnakChan

Ill post impressions as soon as i get it and have had a bit of time, i'm getting it mainly for home use, ZX1 is self sufficient outside for me.

I still like my UHA-6Mk2 tho, but after its been put to the test against the PHA2 it might have to go..

Quoting a battery life of so many hours from a non-audiophile format onto a audiophile player is ludicrous! Hopefully we'll know a US release in T-minus 6 Days and counting.

Anyway Happy New Year to all and may this year bring all the audio equipment one imagined to his/her arms without breaking the bank:beerchug:

For me I get 20-25 hours battery life using 100% 16/44.1 FLAC with all settings turned off except sometimes shuffle, stock music app, and not turning on screen or fiddleing with device a lot. Sony ZX1 also looses a ton of battery in standby (compared to my iphone 4, that loses like 1-2% in standby overnight..) kind of weird considering thus processor is slow on this thing... the internet web page load times are sloww. Although im playing around with other apps now and VLC seems to burn almost no battery, and I prefer the sound sig (less metalic highs). Shame VLC is beta still, some weird bugs with it, such ad hiccuping when using high speed scrubbing and acctually changing sound sig after scrubbing... at least side buttons still work though. I tried nuetron and it burns battery like crazy, didnt like sound much and has side buttons dont work.

The same here too, so i guess its best to switch off when not in use for a while, it is slowish starting, but nowhere nearer as slow as AK100 scanning library:D
