It doesn't happen with X3 line out.

The sound quality is phenomenal via ZX1 usb out and amp. Noise appears (noticeable) about 60% volume and onwards.

60% of your amp volume or of the zx1? I'm a little confused here, the higher the volume for sony, the lower the noise in regard to music. into setting volume you got a different volume slider for when using the line out. it should be maxed out for best signal to noise ratio.

I'm feeling the opposite, I feel the M is going to be epic. Can't wait till its out so I can compare it to the ZX1 :) I'm also looking forward to the X5, I'm sure it will sound great but I hate having to use a tiny screen. I also hope iBasso comes out with a new flagship that isn't as bulky and has better usability with a faster OS and more features in it. I did like the DX50 though, I would say its the best value in terms of price for great sound. Not really hyped for the AK140 :S

You are right that there will always be compromise, and no one DAP will have everything we want, its really a matter of space, can't fit everything all people want into a reasonably sized device (at a reasonable cost) :P

What's this M device you people speak of?

NW-ZX1

Calyx-M

iBasso DX90

Fiio X5 / X7

Things have never looked so good in the world of audiophile DAPs!

...and then there's envelope-pushing CIEMs, from JHA, UM, Noble, etc.

Happy (albeit rather expensive!) days!

be even better in this thread if we could get past the constant plugs for other manufacturers... if your that interested in other brands any chance you could comment in those particular threads that seem to excite you and stop spamming those interested in the Sony.

this is a ZX1 thread afterall.

Easy, tiger! It's not like I was saying any of them is better. The ZX1 is even at the top of that list, and it was actually a well-intentioned & optimistic post.

Us Head-fiers have never had things so good, in terms of decent quality gear coming onto the market.

Interesting, after going to so many threads comparing the ZX1 to any other daps. ;) I am interested in Sony and another other hi-res daps that would allow my experience to be widen and it is great that you guys give us something to tease us with so that we can open up our wallet.

The good news to report so far are the battery is much better with these line outs than with Sony's usb out adapter and the sound is really good.
Also,Fisher Amps are fantastic iems!
Um 3X have addictive bass, but the rest at least with the bright ZX1 is sounding clicky and sibilant unfortunately, totally different sound to the Fishers,i like both, but im not keeping the UM's, Sony H3's will be with me tomoro, but the Fishers are a keeper:)
