For my order, they emailed me the tracking number once it shipped.

Well yes a 'worker' processes your order so with the holiday's, or maybe it's not in stock yet, so your order isn't ready to ship. Your PayPal receipt confirms you paid so the shipping date is up to them. I would just send them an email like I said.

Woah stumble across this thread while I was contemplating getting a dedicated portable audio player, the top end model is too rich for me, but maybe one of the mid range ones could work, I respect Sony's audio output. Maybe I'll grab a Clip Zip on the cheap and hold out with that for now, do these new Sonys have MicroSD support? That's the clincher for me, has to have expandable storage.

The answer to that's a big fat 'No'...

Already? But "they" are so young (struck down in the prime of life).

Yeah, I don't particularly like not having an expansion slot either.

It seems, from user reports in this thread, that the ZX1 is a lovely DAP, which performs very well in general usability and sound quality, but if memory expansion &/or greater power output is a requirement, and at a cheaper price, then the less-glamourous Fiio X5 might be worth your attention.

There are also some new high-end DAPs allegedly due for release some time in 2014 - namely, the Fiio X7, Calyx-M, and Astell & Kern AK140.  All three of these DAPs will have memory expansion slots - in fact,  probably all three of them will have twin memory expansion slots... but none of them will be budget DAPs.

It all depends on how patient you are, how much money you're able to spend, how power-hungry your headphones are, and how much you value an ultra-slick user-experience.

Sony appear to have the best user-experience at the moment, but no DAP is perfect.

Yes you are right that there is no perfect dap. There's a tradeoff everywhere and for me I could take something with less power and no memory slot. I'm only going to use iem's and most of the time ciems with them and 128gb is easily more than enough for me. The Fiio x5 is still something I want however but more so that I really like the x3 and excited to see how fiio would do with a larger budget dap since I feel they pretty much maxed out at the $200 range with the x3

Mython I will try and check the size when I have more than 2mn to myself. I would rather have a designated case thst gives access to the side buttons. I would never put 250$ like that stupid leather case, but 50$ is possible.

If I'm not mistaken Calyx M will only have 1 memory slot expansion. They were banking on a new 128gig sd card to be released to claim a max of 192gig storage. Very misleading on their part if you ask me..

I don't feel the M is going to be very good compared to other TOTL Daps, the X7 is atleast a year off for US release, and the AK140 is suspected to be really expensive. I've come to the conclusion that no DAP is going to do it all (ever), there will always be compromise. I've always been a fan of Sony and how they can balance usability and sound quality. Early walkmans were king in the day, and I feel they are making a step in the right direction with this release. I'll wait and see what the specs look like with the M, but I have my eyes on the Sony right now.

Where does your feeling on the M come from?

Anyways you are not taking much of a risk with the ZX1. Should you dislike the sound sig, you can sell it in a minute...

Mostly my experience with Calyx Femto DAC, wasn't a fan. I'm prepared to eat my words, but I don't have confidence that they will make something that will compete.

Love to see your view on how it pairs with 627x.

No practical case has been released yet but Vannuys has released some so-called ZX1 cases (which may as well be generic cases). I bought one anyway cos I didn't want the actual Sony case to wear out.

I'm receiving 2 more ZX1 for friends today smily_headphones1.gif.
