Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model - Page 158

OK, thanks for the info, castle.

Would there be any disadvantage to using something like PowerAmp on this device?

I'm not interested in ClearAudio or other effects (just EQ please... maybe crossfeed for old stereo recordings).

In other words, would PowerAmp yield the exact same results as the built-in player given all FX are turned off in both cases?

If anyone has any relevant experience on this, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

A good EQ is the last reassurance I need before pulling the trigger on this...

Thats great to hear, id love to have the SE5, but instead i have ACS t1Live which i dont like , Rooth LS8+ which is very good , but for some reason i never use it and Merlins which i love, but the fact that SE5 is silicon is a winner too... just need the money,so expensive..

It would be nice to have your comparison between ZX1 and X5, of course, once you get the X5.
Honestly, wait for other people to comment, I think Gavin (sprks01) will get a ZX1. But honestly it sounds really nice to me. The 901 drives them with more authority but is slightly less airy. The Tera is the optimal natural sound with the SE5 but once again less airy then the ZX1. The only thing one might not like about ZX1 is that it is not really a warm smooth sound. It is quite cold and can be harsh on some tracks. I am not yet sure I will buy the X5 but I can at least try it.

I heard that LS8+ is a top dog too, congrats.

Has anyone tried the ZX1 with the Momentums or the GR07 ii?

Thanks for all the suggestions Mim, I will wait and see more impressions.

I have a small question though, AK120-SE5way or ZX1-SE5way? Which one is better in your opinion?

There is no competition there. I did not like the AK120 - SE5 way combo at all. The AK120 paired better with the 1plus2.

Oh, so for me it is really down to ZX1 - X5. Thank you for all the answers Mim, much appreciated.

I wish I could narrow down my search but because I can or should I say I must wait to buy another dap this coming year, the choices have broaden and I have to wait for other previously announced daps to finally make my final selection.

In no specific order: ZX1, X5, X7, Calyx M

That's my line up, I hope to be more decisive and pursue the dream dap, although that is bound to change with the ability of the vendors delivering a product I judge as a must have.

I'm sorry if this is already ask before, but I couldn't find it. I want to know if ZX1 default music player support DLNA. I use NAS server, so I need DLNA capable player.
Anyone trying Neutron & Viper4Android with ZX1/F880 ? Is it better than Sony default player ?

Thanks

You need root for Viper to work, and I suppose there's an option in the media player for DLNA.

Do you think the ZX1 needs more time to burn in, if you believe in burn in, which I do.

I would like to see more comparison of the ZX1 to other top daps. It seems to have a nice form factor also.

I was wondering if any ZX1 owners have tried the beta of USB Audio Player Pro, from the makers of USB Audio Recorder Pro?  I would expect it to have full ZX1 compatibility...
