Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model - Page 133

Ok I will post a personal but "fair" comparison between 901, ZX1 and Tera. Saying that the latest hyped player is much much better than another player most people hate had nothing to do with courage...it is just one person's opinion. I respect it but I disagree.

Thank you for your contribution. I've locked out a certain member from the thread for now.

For the rest of the audience here, please keep in mind cost performance is a very individual choice here. All that members who own both (or more) DAPs can only share what they hear, and you as the reader, can only read  and decide if you can relate to what the poster has shared. Criticising a member who's trying to contribute is not welcome here.

The same goes the other way round saying Tera is better, I just don't think so, but this is pointless anyways..

that is almost ironically funny, you go on & on about another device then you actually decide you want to hear about the ZX1.

Here's my review of the ZX1... it's pretty damn good to my ears (I'm selfish about my ears so you'll have to accept my view as I can't really  detach them at a 'meet')... I would recommend that you should buy one & do your own comparisons and if you don't like it, sell it.... quite simple really.

Too happy with Tera why waste money and buy Sony?
Have the ZX1 replaceable battery?

why are you in the thread then... if your whole point is disruption you have succeeded... feel free to pat yourself on the back.

you know the answer to your question so your 'dangling maggot' is wasted on me.

Undoubtedly the ZX1 does not have a [user] replaceable battery, but - i'm sure within a matter of weeks there will be someone who has gotten hold of the service manual, and will work out how to take the player apart, and find out that it has a generic battery inside that you can pick up for a couple of bucks, and swap in yourself...

I'm VERY happy with the Samsung Note 3 (which can do MQS) - makes my IE800s sing brilliantly, and - I've been burned by Sony too many times of late, but - even with all of that in mind, I'm thinking of at the very least getting a demo of a ZX1...

Still, the question for me (which, to be fair has probably been answered only a page or two ago) is how much difference there is between the ZX1 and the F886...

I'm leaning towards demoing the cheaper player, but - if the more expensive one sounds substantially better (i'll ignore any other bells and whistles that the ZX1 may have, my Note 3 will almost certainly trump it for anything other than sound!), then I may still be interested in it as a partner for my Sennheisers...

This set is awesome for Anisong.

Thanks prathan. Can you do me a comparison of your setup with the zx1 and 334, amped and unamped . Id like to understand what you hear in terms of sq , leaving aside the obvious power upgrade in volume.

Mine came today, so far so good after an hour or so use with it. Can't tell if the SQ is absolutely better than the Fiio X3, but in most other aspects it's the better. Works well with my K10, but that was expected as the Sony Z1 (phone) did fine too. For me the volume is enough for outdoor use, although I have to use the Master volume as well as the app volume (Neutron). Works with the Smartwatch 2 as well, and that was one of the key things I wanted.

Duncan the ZX1 might suit your taste... knowing you like something a 'little' brighter sounding.

that was the best reason I've seen to date used as an excuse to purchase a ZX1... that'll be hard to top :beerchug:

Bet it won't work with the Galaxy Gear though!

Damn me going all-out for Samsung! :deadhorse:

OK-Guy, maybe we can meet up in the next few weeks, so I can grab a listen to your ZX1 - then again - I get paid on 31 December, might just be a fool, and head down TCR and pick one up from the Sony Galleria...
