Been quite busy last week so need to catch up on last 25 pages that have gone mad since release but have got my ZX1 today via Fedex on time and just taken these on the fly quickly in auto with no tripod but quick impression listening with a pair of MDR-R1's was firstly it has been designed to work with their headphone range without an amp with plenty to spare on the volume pot and the SQ is sounding promising straight of the bat and  quick listen has a wide sparse sound field with high level of attention paid to detail retrieval.  Sounded warmer than I thought it would be from those brief first listen.

Would of continued with listening but have run into a couple of niggles with Windows Media player with this, one which I think was an issue back in the day with the Z1070 with album art not transferring in WAV file format only but need to swat up on the old "Help for dummies thread" that was started in regards to this, Media Go and Sonic Stage software back then.  I know there is also drag & drop option which may work around this (still yet to try this) but would be great if WMP just done this whilst syncing.

Will be downloading Media Go when I get time over weekend as I have heard it is much improved over the last year or so.

Other issue tonight was ZX1 is disappearing from WMP and to get the device to show again to do syncing you have to go back into "My Computer" which seems to re-activate it back in WMP which I have not experienced before.

Looking forward to plugging these in with my JH16's, Heir 5.0's & Sony 7520 headphones over next couple of hours despite no album art when syncing with WMP.

Fortis flyer75, how much percent would you rate the zx1 over the x series, in terms of upgrading value?

I have never like ClearAudio in any of the Sony devices I have owned because after a while it just sounded processed. It does both good and harm to the sound.

First, let me clarify. For me, the 3003 sounds very good out of the iphone 5s.

Second, the 'small margin' comment was made during the first hour or so of listening with the Sony and no longer applies.

Third, not sure why so many don't like the ClearAudio setting, but for me, the Clear Audio+ setting makes a world of difference. I have A/B'ed this extensively and stand firm. If you need convincing, listen to 'May This Be Love' from Hendrix without and with ClearAudio+. If this does not convince you, then something is wrong(right) with my ears.

Bearing in mind I have just spent ten minutes at most with my ZX1 and will get some serious listening mileage in tomorrow night and Saturday before I can go in depth and make quoted comparisons but so far from that ever so brief listen I would say it is in another dimension to the X and from memory dare I say a fair step up from the Z1070 I had.

I will report back over the weekend once I have compared the ZX1 to the X even though already this seems maybe like an unfair duel?...

Although the ZX1 will probably be a big step up in terms of detail retrieval, resolution, control and sound stage there was a unique fun warm but yet capable amount of detailed sound to be heard from the X even four years after it's birth, but get the feeling the ZX1 will be Champions league status and the X left in the Europa cup arena if you catch my drift.

Will let you know in depth on that for sure soon, but have to say so far no regrets in making this upgrade from initial first several hours of actually having it in front of me as an over all package taking into account design, size, weight, quality of build, UI & touch screen, just need to see if the SQ pans out over next few days of rigorous listening sessions.

I wonder if there's an app for that?

I suspect you need Root access...

By the way, I saw in Hong Kong forum that we can install app to change the menu language to Chinese (assuming that the app does include Chinese display in the first place)

The best way is to just create a folder in the Walkman drive, and copy your songs to it.

Media-Go is also very good, with both I never had a single problem.

Some quick notes:

My ZX1 is still burning with only flac, with 30GB of Hi-res music, and 50GB red-book.

I can say its resolving , fast and loves female vocals.

I think the Bass here is more controlled than the Z (the Z bass more prominent).

What strikes me the most is the sound stage, its so open.

I still cant believe I am getting this kind of SQ from a DAP that plays flac for +21hours, fast, beautiful and bug free UI.

I am sure that this purchase is probably the best I did since I joined Head-fi.

JVC HA-FXZ 200 loves amping, and with the ZX1 its not needed any more.

Line out vs USB to my Glacier:

With Line out the sound was warmer , and I found myself liking it more than while connected thru USB to it.

Sony "Welcome back"

update: there is Fantastic synergy between the Bey DT770 LE and the ZX1.

Just email them and ask them for the WMC-NWH10.

It is used to connect the ZX1 to external DACs(confirmed to be working with the Asus Xonar and Apex Glacier)

I appreciate if someone would tell me what is the best USB charger for the ZX1 (referring to A).

I have this:

I'm jealous of those precious ZX-1s.  I'm start to regret pulling a trigger on the Koss ESP-950 instead of the ZX-1.:(:o  The ESP-950 does sound stellar though.  I hope to join you guys in a month or so.  Let me know if anyone want to get rid of yours ZX-1!
