Anyone that has one want to measure output impedance? If you lend it to me, I'll do it. ;)

Just a few comments:

  • I find the design and build abolutely great. Love the metal and leather feel.
  • The case is quite crappy...not practical at all
  • Listened to the free tracks for a minute, this player sounds really nice out of the box. Very spacious and airy with my Hidition NT6, with well defined bass. The highs might be just a tad harsh out of the box, but we will see later. Something is sure: I prefer the sig of the Sony over the AK120
  • I have huge rat in my house and I just can't manage to catch it. It's a pain in the ***

No I am transferring 110g of music and burning in the whole night.

Congrats.

Congrats to everyone who got their dap.

Makes me regret my cancellation frown.gif. I wanted to give it some time for first impressions. Can't wait to hear them pouring in.

That sounds painful, but thanks for the laugh!

does this player got nice Treble (extended and sparkly), nice forward mids, folder navigation option for the music  or?  i don't have a portable amp, should i get a pico slim + dx50 or going directly to this one is better?

However something like the MH335DW it seems to suit the ZX1 at the moment. No idea how the MH335DW will sound with the ZX1 after the Studio Reference mod.

Edit: About the ZX1 vs AK120 I'm sure when some of you start receiving the ZX1 would be saying "what is AnakChan talking about!?" so bear in mind some may still prefer the AK120 to the ZX1. For me, the two are just too close to justify owning one that's $450-$500 more expensive.

Great, Great news AnakChan!!!

Fiio X5 would also fit your price bracket, but we'll have to wait and see what reviewers say about how the X5 compares to the NW-ZX1 when it is released in the coming weeks.

Whatever they say, it won't be either this polished, not as good sounding..
My ZX1's just cleared customs, so it'll be here this week.

AnakChan, what's with the impedance and feeding those hungry cans, great it works with Leckerton, I love this amp

I actually want to know that myself cos looking at other Sony players they're around the 3 ohm mark too. However there's something about the roll offs on the AK120 that I hear which I don't on the ZX1. Maybe it's the behavioral differences of the DAC or amp rather than Zout? I'm not an expert to be able to tell the causes but merely that I do hear differences & what I prefer.

Of course the X5 won't be this polished, but I fail to understand how you can possibly know what it will sound like.

I'm still waiting for some serious reviews of the NW-ZX1. I won't draw any conclusions until I've seen some serious in-depth reviews of it being used for an extended period of time, and with low-impedance multi-BA CIEMs (and what the output impedance is for each DAP).  FOTM-Fever doesn't count.    And I will have exactly the same standpoint with regard to the X5.  Watch, and wait...  Personally, I think the NW-ZX1 and the X5 are something we should all welcome to the marketplace, as they will increase choice and raise-the-game of the various companies making audiophile DAPs.

thanks, i think i just need to know its as loud as the AK and that's good enough for me

So envious of everyone already with their players >_<. Got my e-mail with tracking already and is set for delivery by Friday. Crazy to hear anakchan put up the ak120 for sale. I was really wondering if the zx1 would deliver or if the ak120 would be the dap on the top pedestal to get. Guess  iriver has serious competition now for the highend top spot.

I agree and if the X5 sounds in that league i am likely to buy it too, but with Sony you get history and experience ( inc your own with that brand), so i didn't think much when i saw the ZX1, the price is good too ( hey, it could have been AK's territory, i'm surprised they didn't), you just know what your getting here and i'm sure it wont disappoint.

But there's room for Fiio and ill welcome them too.

as far as i know the Fiio X5 got rolled off Treble, in case the Pico slim will pass the amp of the DAP will this change? btw this is the 1st time for me to into portable rig so i got no idea what so ever :P

Also, i know it is important for all of us to know if the Sony's as good, better than AK's. but ultimately, it is personal,

i would sacrifice one think for another if it suits my needs more,

Say, my AK 100 is smaller than the ZX1 which i prefer, but then every time i wanna put a new album on it it has to scan the library which takes forever plus the data integration is appalling.

With Android i wont have this problem, but then i don't really want to carry an Iphone and ZX1( another phone) around.

So many things to consider...and i just end up spending so much haha..
