Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model - Page 83

Yeah, but then everything that makes the NW-ZX1 a nicely-designed DAP goes out the window if one is going to turn it into a stack.

That is why I remain interested in the X5. The X5 looks (on paper, at least) to be self-sufficient, whereas the NW-ZX1 might not be, but that still remains to be seen (heard).

Yeah, I know, I am not willing to take a huge stack with me all the time when I am outside but if the combination is seriously magical, then I might think about it.

To be honest, I wish this dap to power my SE5way "good enough" (means not like HM901 balanced card levels but still not wasting the ciems) and I will be settled.

Rob, I kid you not it'll be hard to see where the improvements will be made on SQ given that both use the same DAC/Amp, the bulge is for a different battery on the ZX1...

I am pretty sure the sony site lists the amps as having different spec, and I know I've read that the hump was supposed to accommodate a larger amp.

Edit: Here it is: 10mW/channel http://www.sony.jp/walkman/products/NW-F880_series/spec.html

And we have much discussed the 15/channel of this in the thread, so I don't think I need to back that up again.

Hope they bring out a Clear Hard Case, similar to the CKH-NWZ1000. Supose it may be coded as CKH-NWZX1.

The Satouchi case is really nice, just can't see paying another ~$240 at time of purchase (if ordering direct from sony.jp website). Thankfully Price Japan didn't list that as an option.

I preordered through PJ and chose the bank transfer in order to safe the Paypal percentage. They provided a trustful domestic bank account and confirmed the credit via email already. I decided for the more expensive former-DHL-now-Fedex delivery and not EMS because EMS delivery could cause some extra customs hassles in my country. Fedex would bring it through customs and just let me pay the extra amounts directly.

I did some live recordings last night with my good old MZ-RH1 Hi-MD and recognized that the combined jog lever for play/pause/enter/ff/fr starts making trouble not executing anymore due to contact problems. Still could use it with the remote though but I think it's time to switch to the 21century with the ZX1 in T -10days!

How do you do bank transfer to Price Japan? Do you need to have a Japan based bank account or the international bank transfer will do?

I've been using DX100 for slightly over 1year. The SQ is one of the best I've ever heard but the batt life is making me frustrated at times. With a full charge, it will only be able to last for 5-6 hours. I was hoping the ZX1 will be my solution. Anyone here have had the chance of listening to both DAPs to provide suggestions for my decision to change over to zx1? Thanks.

It's easy...you can pay by PayPal or they will provide you their bank info so you can wire transfer the payment from your bank.

Sadly there's no wire transfer option for Singapore. I have just ordered from amazon at 73800 yen. My sis will be in Tokyo for business trip from 13 Dec. Hopefully the delivery will not be delayed.

If you gonna resell it for a small tiny loss, shoot me a PM, I will see how much I can gather by the time comes.

.............and when you resell it for a further smaller loss shoot me a PM. This is working out rather well for me.:L3000:

This first review is anticipated by almost everyone with an eye to purchase this sexy looking DAP from Sony. Hope the sound matches that exterior.

I was planning to wait it out and see how it compared to the upcoming Calyx, but I really want physical buttons. Ordered.

Been a reader on head-fi for some time now and recently signed up after about months of not having an account. Decided to do the same and order the nw-zx1 and pha-2 via pricejapan.com. Been using a ipod and fiio e12amp for the longest and decided to make the ultimate plunge with savings I had. Can't wait to post my impressions along with all the other early adopters once received.

Subbed...  Still "like" my RWAK100, but feel like I'm ready to try Sony again, after about a 12 year absence.  I hope the NWZ-ZX1 is released in the U.S.  If not, I'll likely forgo this player.

Too bad it is limited to 128 Gb without any possibility for additional memory through MicroSD card !    Even 128 Gb is rapidly full with 24/96 and 24/192 files !

They might have missed here the 10/10 mark !
