Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model - Page 76

It has a Japanese/English menu fact (I do not lie, honest), even if it was in Japanese it would be simple to use for those familiar with Walkman's.

Headphone output, dud battery, language issues, anything else I should know about ?, one wouldn't want to be scare-mongered into reneging on a sweet deal.

My Japanese friend confirms that  (same as with my Z-1070) it has support for both Japanese and English  (just 2 clicks when you start the ZX1 and all is in English).

two questions:

1. will this device have drag and drop as well as folder view of your music?

2. When sony Japan said nw zx1 will be Japan only, did they mean the non NWZ model is japan only or do they mean this model is going to be Japan only altogether?

1) Sony went to a great deal of trouble to design and manufacture this DAP, and thus it is in their best interests to get a good return on their investment in it.

2) Sony are making a big push into Hi-Rez music download sales, of which the NW-ZX1 and NW-F880 are a directly integral part, marketing-wise, just as Apple's iTunes and iPod have historically contributed, hand-in-hand to each others commercial success.

3) In an increasingly-global marketplace, and in increasingly competitive&challenging global economy, there is less and less reason to restrict sales of a flagship device to only one country.

4) Sony have fallen on relatively hard times, this past few years, so, given the opportunity to sell this DAP in fairly substantial numbers, globally, they'd be foolhardy to overlook that opportunity.

I could continue with more points, but I'm sure many of us are thinking along somewhat similar lines, so there's no need to labour the point.

In summary, I fully expect that the NW-ZX1 will find its way into the global marketplace through official Sony channels (albeit more slowly than through unofficial channels).

With all these information.....the U.S.A. gets no love from Sony.  Wonder why they seem to abandon  the U.S. market as of late?  Poor marketing?

Not if it's a PS4, seems USA are the first to receive it for a change even before Japan!?

I think with respect to at least where this dept lies in the organisation, Sony is a more an "intentional" company than a "global" company (despite their "global market" reference).

Well, Sony have only got them selves to blame for restricting themselves through their own phobia of looking at balance sheets relating to direct losses to Apple in relation to be not "Global anymore" regardless of the economic struggles of last five years (and more no real captian at the helm) Sony have just stalled on an idea/ answer to compete but even though it is a tall order to try and finally break through with High Res Audio to the masses maybe this respective department could once again be classed as Global like the good old days of when Walkmans walked the Earth when they had magnetic plastic tape cpursing through their viens!

Good to see they are backing it up across the board with High res with new Hi-fi seperates which has never been the same since the ES series throat was cut.

Hopefully this can be the Walkman of yesteryear incarnated in a new generation with the ZX1...

(one can dream right?)

I do not believe that the US will not get this device:

USA 314 Million residents

Japan 120+ Million residents

Germany 80 Million residents

France 64 Million residents

UK 63 Million residents

Italy 59 Million residents

Spain 46 Million residents

Sweden 9.5 Million residents

Sony seems to be locked with a 60 Million residents Limit.....

I am working within a supply chain for global products. I know from dally experience how hard it is for device engineers to fulfill the Country requirements and for those people Europe as a whole with its 18+ languages is a nightmare. So it is Logical that they are serving Japan first and then concentrate on the biggest markets..... The rest of us needs to buy @ Price Japan or the likes... Which seems to be the only way for us Europeans to get a chance to ruin our ears....
