For me the Sony ZX1 (hopefully) will be a good "complete package", not best in anything, but it just works wonderful and let me enjoy it, and remember I spent almost 50% of my time with the DX100 trying to fix things! until I lost hope.

My slow Z-1070 sounds wonderful, and all I have to do is just turn it and play, no hiccups no chipmunk sounds no restarts nothing, it just works as a Walkman.

P.S: When Steve went to Japan and saw how Japanese people are in love with Sony and Walkman and Disc-man, he took the Sony Walkman from one of his employees (when he returned) , dismantled it and started thinking of the ipod, so in a way Sony made the ipod:biggrin: .

To all of you guys here , I thank you for your contributions and thoughts,.

Please keep them coming.

Its HeadFi =(Here everybody  always do find importance)!

LOL..."no chipmunk sounds" i dont think you had a nice time with the DX100

Ouch, just seen the preorder price on ebay of £630 ish through price japan.  That's me out of this for now.  Plus the nice little get out clause underneath basically saying there's no guarantee you'll get a launch day unit (fair enough I spose) anyway!  Saying December the 7th right now.

I shall feel sorry for the guys on here that have already ordered, if they then have to wait to receive it !!

Simply type Sony ZX1 Walkman into ebay.co.uk and you'll get 3 or 4 vendors offering this DAP.

e.g.:

Buy direct from the Price-Japan Website, I paid roughly £530 inc' DHL delivery, agree Customs of $110 (USD) before ordering.

I have a reliable Ebay seller as well who will offer better prices than his Ebay-listings, they will also write 'as gift' with a value of $35 (USD) for Customs purposes, pm me if interested in his email to deal direct via a Paypal 'Goods' purchase.

Contrary, I did enjoy it, well half of the time when it worked.

I'm a new member from Germany, following this interesting thread for quite a while already. The ZX1 sounds very interesting to me, wanted to pair it with my UE 11 Pro's.

Because I wasn't shure if the ZX1 would be published in Japan not only with Japanese menu but also in English I wrote an email directly to Sony Marketing Japan. That's the answer I got yesterday:

My name is xx xx of Customer Purchase Support Desk at Sony Marketing (Japan) Inc.
Your inquiry regarding NW-ZX1 was pleasantly accepted, and we would like to support you with
answers as below.

First, we confirmed the your mentioned product name (NWZ-ZX1) as NW-ZX1. Currently NW-ZX1 as
the product name of Walkman, not NWZ-ZX1, is planned to release only for domestic market in
Japan. We regret to inform you however Sony Japan has not any plan to release this model (NW-ZX1)
to overseas market in our current product management. And your question about the language
function for menu screens in English, NW-ZX1 will be planned to offer only with Japanese menu.

Also concerning the plan for releasing the same type model as NW-ZX1 to Germany market, let
us excuse for your kind acceptance however we have no reliable information regarding the
management of new overseas products in foreign market including your region's. As the most
reliable advice for your confirmation of the release plan for the Walkman which is correspond
to NW-ZX1, the Sony Support Desk in Germany could be kindly recommended.

This is the end of our answers for your inquiry, and we all know this is against your expectation
for purchasing our new Walkman (NW-ZX1). Finally with our great appreciation for your favor and
good interesting to our products from overseas customer, please let us kindly ask Mr./Ms. Georg B?hr
of accepting our best apology for your inquiry.

* If you have any other questions regarding this issue, please feel free to inquire us again
without changing the subject of this e-mail in return.

Thank you very much for your particular attention to our product management,
with our heartfelt salutation to Sony's global customers. Omotenashi:

Sincerely...

How are you guys dealing with this, especially the folks who already preordered? Seems to be pretty risky to me to place an expensive preorder thru PriceJapan finally getting a device which probably runs in Japanese only. Do you have other reliable information on this? Thanks a lot for comments...

Just to jump on the bandwagon, beyond the fact that there are screenshots of the language options on the device, just a piece of advice, don't ever listen to support at a big company. They tend to not know what they're talking about.

Sony states that they will release UK, FRANCE and GERMANY in April 2014, but not in EUROPE. They seem to be all over the place with this information.

I hope it's not 2024 !! I might be dead by then !!!

Sony Nordic stated that it will reach select countries but "not Europe" which I guess means not whole Europe will get it. Or perhaps they just meant to write Scandinavia, as that's where they operate.

However, I just noticed this in the release notes for Media Go 2.6:

New devices for Media Go 2.6

Media Go works with some great mobile devices including the PSP™ system, WALKMAN, Xperia™ Tablet, Sony Tablet™, Xperia™ smartphones, and other mobile phones. Media Go 2.6 adds support for the following devices:

  • New Sony Xperia™ smartphones: Xperia™ M Dual, Xperia™ Z1, and Xperia ™ Z1 f
  • New WALKMAN E series, F series, M series, S series, W series, WH series, and ZX series models
  • New Sony PHA-2 portable headphone amplifier and UDA-1 USB DAC amplifier

Another hint at a western release?
