FS: Wadia 121 plus power supply upgrade (AUS)
Will Ship To: Anywhere
I am selling my Wadia 121 USB DAC (used for a year), in nearly mint condition. The 121Decoding Computer is a DAC, preamplifier, and headphone amp. There are inputs for AES/EBU (XLR), S/PDIF (Coax, BNC, and Toslink), and Asynchronous USB all of which are capable of handling 24/192 files.
I have compared the USB input with several other standalone usb-to-digital converters (such as Hiface evo, SOtM dX-USB HD, gd-audio DI-V3), and I feel that there is no need to use these converters.
The performance of the 121 is reasonably good for its price, great USB input (asynchronous), great headphone amp (which drives my HD650 very well), and great pre-amp. However, this is not the best performance for it if the original switch power supply is used. The original power supply is a poor, small plastic toy, which largely limit the performance of this DAC. So I upgrade the PSU (bought from Hong Kong), which costs nearly $500. The result is that Wadia 121 is largely improved in all the aspects, including better sound stage, darker background, more smooth in high and deeper in bass, and most importantly, you feel stable and clear instrumental images. I never switch back to the original PSU after this upgrade.
I do have the original packing and switch power supply.
The retail price for Wadia 121 is US$1299, so the total investment for this is about $1800. I am asking $1300 $1000 plus shipping to anywhere in the world.
Please let me know if you have any enquiries.
