If you guys are interested, I just posted a review of ATH-CKX9iS and ATH-CKX7iS with a ton of pictures in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581215

Don't want to duplicate everything, so just follow link above.  In a summary, 9iS was VERY impressive, more impressive than Senns CX985 I received reviewed.  And for a price of under $100, you can't beat it.

I got these today. I think they are amazing for the price, I really like them.

My CKX9 arrived this week, I am very impressed by the soundstage and very pleasant by the overall sound signature. A little bit v shaped but very very fun.

I ran for 2 hours today whilst listening to Paul van Dyk's album Reflection today. I must say they stay very securely on ears and do not fall off. My ear canals are small so usually even iems tend to fall after some time but these ones did not. So I think they're perfect for running, biking etc.

The sound has indeed a V-shape. They are really so good for electronic music. Reflection sounded just amazing. I listened to some rock songs just to see how it handles the mids, and although they sounded enjoyable, they did not sound as amazing as they did on electronic music. Sp I think these are great for electronic, pop, general listening and good for rock, classical, jazz (just not amazing).

hello, a new ckx 5 user here.
i take it and like it more than ckx9 because i think ckx9's bass sound muddier and... somewhat harsher.

ckx5's bass seems slow, but i think i can adapt with that :D

anyway, i also think the imaging of these IEMs is amazing.

you can't get a 3D staging IEM like this below 50 US$..

.. but it's all my ears of course, our mileage may vary :D

How do the CKX9 compare with ZA Carbo Basso?

I mainly listen to Trance and Tech Trance.

More impressions on CKX5/7 please, especially after burn-in. They seem to have a similar design with PFE112 and loved the CKX5 design. What about the comfort, is it similar to PFEs?

PCmag has put up a glowing review of the CKX9 here:

Damn I really want these

I am loving the CKX9's soundstage, especially with this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuLINo7u7T0

Looking at all the impressions here it seems that even the lowest of the CKX range, the CKX5 seems pretty decent against the 7 or 9.
It sounds as if it is better than the CKS55. Anyone have tried both the CKS55 and CKX5?
Or perhaps even some of the lower ended ATH IEM's the CK323/313.

I am considering to pull the trigger on these but am conflicted as always with the following choices with the Shure 215S. The CKM9s seems what I want but wanted to hear comparisions on these.

By the way saw the review here for CKM9

I haven't heard either of these but FWIR I would go for CKX9is instead.

If anyone is interested en.goldenears.net recently did some measurements on the CKX5 and CKX9.

CKX5: http://en.goldenears.net/42223

CKX9: http://en.goldenears.net/40595

It seems like the 5 beats the 9 in mainly treble texture, everything else is pretty similar. Though of course this is just artificial measurements.

I recently bought a pair of Audio Technica CKX9is IEMs and they are very good. The stereo separation is good and wide, the bass is good, tight and punchy but I find the highs a bit piercing but still good. The IEMs are also comfortable and stay firmly in my ears maintaining good sound.
