DX50 Bug List, Wish List Fix - Page 45

There seems to be some work done on this V1.2 firmware to the volume section.

♦ I noted a quicker time out back to the play screen after making an adjustment.
♦ Someone has mentioned it feels smoother now.
♦ It only takes one click to make a volume adjustment, whereas two were needed previously.
♦ Am I crazy or does the numeric text also look a touch different?
♦ Another person mentioned it was easier to stop or select a volume step of their choice for example (180)

What I want to know is, has anyone experienced the volume bug since changing to the most recent firmware?

Ever since updating to the latest firmware today, I have noticed that my DX50 has become extremely unstable (yes, I did perform the factory reset, three times). Often, it will crash on start-up, or on selecting a file. It still won't play many of my HD files through to the end (particularly ones downloaded from HD Tape Transfers), choosing to cut off half way through each track (this is an old problem). What is new, is that it now refuses to play the last 3 seconds of any track. Operas have become unlistenable! If this is not fixed soon, I will be returning my DX50 and purchasing an X5 when it comes out.

On a more positive note, the latest FW update seems to have improved the sound quality still further, increasing treble resolution (or maybe I am imagining this).

It now seems to have gone into hibernation, and is performing an extremely long scan...

This device is frustrating! I want to throw it against the wall or run it over, but the sound quality is so much better than any other DAP I have heard so far, so I persevere... I WILL get this b***er working!

If you press on the text while scanning, it should turn white. If it doesn't, then it has frozen. Also, I've noticed that my DX50 gets stuck on certain artists (Linkin Park - all 24bit versions from HDTracks), and it will always end the scan on a certain artist (ReUnited), and I'll have to perform another scan to get the rest of the artists. Really don't know why this happens.

It seems that the new "let's just forget about the last 3 seconds of every track" only affects ALAC files.

That's OK, I'll just re-rip everything to FLAC....

If this thing were a car, it would offer Porsche 911 performance at an Audi TT price, but bits would keep falling off, and you would never reach your destination without a recovery service (oops - I've just described a Lotus!)

Is any one else having issues with listings under the GENRE section.  I could have sworn yesterday when I checked it correctly went GENRE>ARTIST>ALBUM>TRACK.  But today I when I checked there is no sorting what-so-ever under GENRE.  Just a listing of all tracks.

EDIT:  Nevermind.  I saw that this was listed as a known issue in post #2992 in the other DX50 thread.  :normal_smile :

I have a issue with 24/88.2 ALAC album (Random access memories by daft punk). My Dx50 seems to think it's 32 bit. says so on the now playing screen as well as music info. anyone else having same issue?

Hello all. I am a newcomer and have a problem in using my DX50, for both firmware 1.16 and 1.20. My problem is that my DX50 refuses to scan my memory card (Sandisk 64GB) whenever I reboot or insert the card. As such, I cannot view my files except under directory view. What strange is that once I open a file in directory view, I can locate all tracks of this album under album view thereafter.

Anyone has suggestion on what I can do? Thanks much.

are you able to play the track if from directory view? did you do factory reset after upgrade? all your track is unable to scan? how many tracks are they?

Thanks for the response and I can locate and play all tracks under directory view. Upon inserting the Micro-SD, the machine prompts for scanning of the card but it only takes a second to finish and only 1 or 2 albums are successfully scanned and shown under album / artist / genre views.

However, if I play a file under directory view, all tracks of the album it belongs (with the same artist) can be shown under album / artist / genre views thereafter. I am doing a very stupid workaround now by playing a file under each album in directory view so that all my albums can now be viewed. However, if I mistakenly select "scan the SD card" instead of "browse the files", all my tracks will disappear again.

The card and the files can be used in my AK100 and Fiio X3 without any problem.

I have factory reset the machine, both before and after the upgrade but still have no luck.

If all else fail you may want to reformat and copy again the music to your sd files. If you are using Mac it may help to remove the .spotlight and .trash folders. The "cleaner" the card the better

Thanks and may try another card. I may copy my music by batches and test whether there is any scanning problem in a particular album or tagging characteristics.

As I suggested to others if you have a USB 3.0 compatible port on your computer, get yourself a microSD usb 3.0 reader, I was able to double up the speed to close to 10mb/s instead of half of that.

I'm getting seriously frustrated with this player. Instead of listening to good sounding music, I spend most time staring at the ***** Media scanning symbol. I have a MicroSD card 64 GB, class 10. Works great on other machines and no readability problems in WIN or anywhere else.

I use FLAC music and have standard compression and id3 with cover art. Small sized cover art.

Once it plays, it sounds to me really good.

I have e-mailed and asked for tips on how to best setup your MicroSD card - how to format it to best work with DX50.

I have also asked for best setup for FLAC files, and also asked whether .WAV files would be to prefer from the viewpoint of having a smooth time with the DX50.

My experience so far: http://sketchywolf.wordpress.com/

Unfortunately I can't really browse through all the posts, there are a lot right now, and the search haven't given me any answers for the above - but if anyone have found out how to get around these issues, I would really appreciate it if you could post it here. :)

Just a couple of suggestions:

Turn off the DX50 and remove your SD card
Turn it back on and do a Factory Reset from the Settings/Advanced menu
After the factory reset has been completed, re-insert the SD card and allow the player to complete the first scan. It might take 20 minutes or so. Go have a cup of coffee and don't interrupt the scan, as it will then start over next time.

With the latest firmware, after the initial scan, the Media Scanning screen should only be in view for about 4 or 5 seconds after booting.

Unless using OTG, it is best to use All Music, Album, Artist, or Genre rather than the Directory, as Directory has limited functions and will only scan whatever file you select for playing. There is no way to enable a full OTG media scan nor is there any way to save OTG files to Playlists or even randomly play all files on the OTG drive.

I format my cards to FAT32 as my computer cannot read exFAT. All cards 64gb and larger come formatted in exFAT. Keep in mind that .wav files will not display any album art.
Hope this helps.
