Sony's DSD-capable PHA-2 portable headphone amp/DAC - Page 33

It does indeed not work at all with android. Well this sucks...

Hmmm tried DSD SACD files and wont work with it in foobar2000 either, only at PCM setting the music will come through the PHA-2. I see no reason why it wont work with Android, I tried my note 10/1 2014 too and no go, I know it see's it as sound does not come through the 10.1's speakers while it's connected. this sure does limit the use I planned for this...

It sound's good though with my Byerdynamic DT990/600's.

(I did get DSD to work. It sounds great)

I have a Nexus 5 and just got the PHA-2 and would like to know how to make this work.  What cables would I need.  As of now with micro in the n5 and full usb on the pha-2, no luck.  Even using the USB Pro app

I can't get it to work at all with my Nexus 5 either. I just tried with the audio recorder pro app a little while ago and It does not recognize the device. my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 seems to know it's there as the sound does not play through the tablet but the PHA-2 does not work on it, I'll try the audio recorder pro app on that tab here in a bit. The full USB input is for iCrap only, I did try and all it does is charge my N5...

I have one possible solution left and that's using a Mini B type USB cable into the walkman mini B input on the PHA-2 but I don't have a mini B USB cable with me so I can't try it yet.

Well oddly enough I found an old short mini B USB cable right after i sent that and I tried it with my nexus 5 and it does NOT work and does NOT work with USB audio recorder pro on nexus 5, it just simply for some reason does not see the PHA-2. Now my Note 10.1 2014 with USB audio recorder pro on both the Micro and mini ports on the PHA-2 WORK! I'm listening to Comfortably Numb on the PHA-2 connected to my Note 10.1 2014 right now through the Walkman input and UARP sees the PHA-2 when its connected to the micro input.

This is what I get on all inputs on my Nexus 5 while connected with the OTG cable.

I should also say that my Windows 7 laptop the PHA2 does not seem to be able to use generic OS drivers as it failed to "install" and I had to download the PHA-2 driver from the Sony support site to get windows 7 to see it. So this is probably the reason. I'm debating in returning it because I did not get this just to amp the bad audio out of my nexus 5... I mean for Pete sakes the PHA-1 worked with android didn't it?

@Robertstern77 I'm on CyanogenMod11 and that's supposed to have real working USB audio but it just does not see the PHA-2 at all :'(

Can't help with the rooted firmwares on nexus as I couldn't get it to work either. On stock though works every time on either of the mini USB connections and a otg cable, with USB audio player pro.
It did stop working a few days ago but it was fine when trying a different cable.

I made it work with the USB Audio Player too, which makes me thing that Android is the real guilty here.
