That's great news, but what about the ZX1?

Man, if ZX-1 arrives here in the US, I cant run to the store & buy it (since the store in my location is shutting down). My next choice will be at the outlet, and they sell some stuff equal to retail:blink:

I might get one of these this month, since with CM11 I can FINALLY get real USB audio from my phone.

I own a UE superfi EB, a ultrasone ed8 , an iphone 4s and a sony PCM-D50.

I saw sony pha-2 in sony shop, the design and build quality is quite amazing. I like the idea of using my iPhone or iPad to listen to good quality sound rather than carrying my PCM-D50 with the limited user interface.

I brought my buds and headphone to the sony shop for listening. Comparing to the output of iPhone 4s and using digital out to pha-2. It is better, more detail and better bass. But at around $550, it does not sound better than my $650 PCM-D50. That is from 2005? I never found PCM-D1 because it is so rare, people who did mention it is even better than D50.

Come on man, are we moving forward. How can something from 2005 beat a new sony product in 2013? Why can't sony just rip out the recording part out of PCM-D1 and put in the playback electronic in their high end walkman with new android interface. So sony can blow away the korean con job of $2500 AK240. Really? If it blow away the sound quality of my PCM-d50, i might consider paying 2500 BUCKS. I doubt it can.

What is management of sony thinking? They have the technology right in front of them, but do nothing with it.

Why would a 2005 electronic beat 2013, i think it is the obsession of putting a lame 3.7v battery so it can be charged with 5v from USB. I am willing to spend, but you got to blow my ears away. I think audio both in home and portable are moving backwards, that is very sad.

Does anyone know if the PHA 2 will work with Samsung Note 2?

No reason it should not unless you aren't running stock firmware or CM11.

My friend brought the PHA-2 to my apartment last weekend and I did not have time to play with it for the past few days.  Took it out today and play it around with my MacBook and iPhone. Honestly, I do like the improvement on the sound quality. Similar to the HD TV, after you watch it for a couple of hours, it's just too tough to switch back to the normal TV. My friend is coming back this weekend to collect his PHA-2 and I think it's time for me to look for a good dac, portable if possible! The silk print is coming off, god, not sure whether I did that or it was like that when my friend brought it here. Hope he does not mind! (oh, I am not able to post photo, not sure why???)

Thanks for the info.

yup :) I am planning to get one and will use it with my Nexus 5 and PC DAC when I am not at home (my Schiit Gungnir is too big to haul around...) I just wish Amazon would get it in stock, It just always says "Usually ships in 3 to 4 weeks" it never changes. I'm not sure if this thing is even launched yet or what... I'd rather buy it from Amazon and not the random japan sellers that keeps popping up on amazon with the weird prices.

I'm using the PHA-2 with the Nexus 5 and it really does take the audio to a new level.

I ordered from PriceJapan.  Good price and very quick delivery, 5 days and that included a weekend.

oh awesome! good to hear it WILL work with the nexus 5! Yeah I might just jump on the next japanese one that pops up but not over the $600 price though, I've seen them as low as $550 randomly on there and prime shipping.

Be aware though that I could only get USB audio to work with the USB audio pro player app. Couldn't get it to work when I rooted the phone so unrooted and used that app.

Were you running CM11 by chance? my nexus 5 with CM11 works with all my DAC's with USB OTG Nuforce icon HDP/uDAC-2 and am just now trying it with my Schiit Gungnir and it works.

Yeah was using the latest build of cm11 but no joy with the Sony. Although to be honest prefer the phone running stock android. Was getting a couple of bugs/glitches when rooted.

Dang... I don't wanna use that stupid app. I'm hoping it will work though.
