hear me out, i have no experience with high end headphones this is gonna be my first pair, i only listen to hip hop, rap, a little rock , oldies & reggae  im NOT a " basshead " im looking for a headphone that has superb clarity with good bass but not over powering bass! bass that would compliment hiphop/rap songs..also im looking for a "3D type sound " i dont know how to explain that sorry .! from my understanding "dr dre beats" are crap, soo i was wondering which of these two headphones will be better for my music taste Sennheiser Momentum OR  V - Moda Crossfade M 100 ? also which of those two is an over all better headphone.? comparing both headphones bass, clarity, mid range ect..! and do i need to break them in or not.?? my budget is up to 400$ if none of these are right for me than i would appreciate it if you would recommend the best pair for me.!  thanks sorry for the knowledge im depending on you guys to guide me to the right pair for me.! thanks again.!

Hello!

Thank you Davidsh for the bump!

I have never tested the M100 but I heard people who own or tested both and they seem to prefer the Momentum more!

I definitely like the Sennheiser Momentum for your genre! They are awesome with those genre! However, they do not have those 3D sound but I do not find it necessary for the genre you mentioned unless you planning to watch movie with these headphones.

Other than Momentum, the PSB M4U1 also have deep sub-bass and it's much better controlled in comparison but the quantity is a little bit less, not day and night differences but it's notable. The PSB M4U1 will have more spacious soundstage and imaging but again, for your genre of music, they do not need those unless for movies

Hope it helps!

very good point BillsonChang007, would you say that the v moda M 100's actually has too much bass that it bleeds out to the Mids ? i've also heard the momentum's are lacking in bass, therefor i figured these wernt the right ones for me. Being that hip/hop is very bass oriented, would you say this to be false.? im not looking for a really stong bass but just enough.! also in terms of clarity thats non fatiguing & good mids which headphones offer this best? M 100's or momentums..?

you might want to consider the Audio-Technica ATH-A900X.

I certainly do not find the Momentum to be lacking bass at all! The M100 have just way too much bass if you are looking for the right amount! The M100 do have pretty well controlled bass thought but still, too MUCH! XD

Those genre of music does have some bass emphasis but other frequency are equally important to get the best sound!

My vote goes to Momentum biggrin.gif

Never tried Momentum but  V Moda M-100 too bassy IMO. The bass are good but I'm looking for all rounder headphone. And I wonder if the 3D sound you mentioning is surround? When I watch movie/ gaming with my FA-003, I just turn on virtual surround. I found that surround not suitable for music.
