I'm from Portugal and i ordered it from the online store site for Portugal www.sony,pt. This DAP for portugal is only available from Sony store online (Headquarters in Belgium but the units are coming from tilburg in Holland). I Could by it in amazon or pixmania but in that case i could not send it back to Sony i only can can send it to amazon or pixmania and i must pay the delivery costs, with sony online its free ad is delivered and collected by TNT. I can ask for a refund within until 30 days of purchase. I proced for another unit because i was thinking that as i inform what is the issue theygonna check the new unit and see if it is free of this issue. Well they don't check and send me another one with manufacturing defect.

Let's see how many of you can face SONY.

The manufacturing defect you speak of is ridiculous, mine "has" it very dim, almost invisible if were not because I turned off all the lights, but the reason is quite obvious: the parts were the metal "curves" around the screen are not perfect and hence leak little to nothing of light.

You are either too perfectionist... or you know nothing about tolerances. Case dismissed.

Oh my god you are assuming there is this issue in your player, very dim or not it exists. I already had two nwz-f806 without this issue. And yes i am a perfectionist and who can blame me for beeing it? For your information Sony already refund me, today i receive a mail saying that they refund me in my credit card. Today i had spoke again with sony in Belgium and they told me that i am the only one to complain about this issue.Well perhaps if all of you that assume to have light bleeding in the corners had communicate that fact to Sony i would not be the only one  to complain about this. But be shure that i will send to sony all of the posts where some of you assume that you see light coming out of the corners and borders, very dim or not. as someone just said in one post dust and moisture comes in from where light comes out. One thing is to don't mind about this issue other is ignoring it.

Guys, I have a couple of questions.

1. How does this compare to the F800 series sonically? I have the F806 Jap. version and the clarity is through the roof but there simply isn't enough bass for my taste (or rather any) and I use the XBA-4.

2. Has anyone gotten it from Malaysia yet (retail)? Are there differences with the Jap. version?

3. Is the HX amp system wide like the F800 series after the 1.12 update?

4. If say I wanna upgrade my the experience, should I get the XBA-H3 or the PHA-2? Which would be a more significant upgrade?

Hello, I've read through a lot of the replies but there are so many so sorry if this has been mentioned. I have the F886 with these headphones http://www.amazon.co.uk/Definition-Headphones-Microphone-Compatible-BlackBerry/dp/B00CJQCWW2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391766752&sr=8-1&keywords=euphoria+headphones Nothing too expensive I know but they sound good to me, I've just been used to the basic Sony ones. Anyway, when the Walkman is on I hear a constant clicking noise just everyone couple of seconds, it started off barely noticable but it's got a bit louder now and it's annoying. Especially if I'm listening to quiet stuff and you can hear it over the music. Is this normal or is there some way I can stop it? Apart from that I'm really happy with everything though. One more thing, I noticed this update on the Sony website, do I need to update mine or is that not necessary? Sorry for being dumb I don't know much about these things but any help would be great!

If you want more bass, another dap won't help. What you need is a proper seal with your current iems. And then swiching to the XBA-H3 is a good idea. But again, without a p erfect seal, those won't have much to no bass also. I have a NWZ-A845. Combined with the H3 and good seal, there is plenty of bass even without the clearbass active. If you activate it, the bass goes through the roof. So again the seal is what you need. The XBA-4 is no bass monster, but it has some bass for sure.

I have very good seal. I use the hippo foam tips with it. But there is simply no bass from it. Details are all good but no bass from the F806. No problems with my 4S. It may be a problem with my f806 coz it was bought under the counter.

From what I've read, the 880 has better bass than even the Z.

Better bass than Z, means Z is overall better than 880? For me, an mp3 with less bass is good thing and that way I prefer it to other players which have way more bass.

I would update it as it will probably sort your problems out.

it appears to be deeper but that may be because it's better defined... both are great.

the F886/7 has a slightly deeper bass to the WM-Z which in turn is deeper than your F807.

CN11 would be the best to ask as  he has both the F806 & ZX1 (F887 has same sig as ZX1 imo, I have both).

don't know if just saying more bass does justice to the dap. the 886 being impressively wide(really for a dap alone it's not that usual), bass impacts sound bigger just because they have more space to pour into(that's how I perceive it, sorry I can't explain the reality behind it).
