Walkman NWZ F886 officialy announced!! [192khz/24bits] - Page 61

My 886 has the light leak at 3 corners (no light leaking at the W corner)

I didn't notice it until it was pointed out here. It is difficult to see the leaks on mine unless I block out the light from the screen itself with my hand, so it doesn't bother me

Er thanks, but I was asking if anybody had paired the f886 with sony xba h1's

Cheers

I would like to thank you all that had gave me feedback and support regarding the light issue with this player. I'm from Portugal and i didn't import mine, i did buy it in Sony online in Portugal and it came from Tiilburg in Holland, but of course it must be imported as Sony is in Japan.

I am in contact with Sony /Europe) in order to solve this issue (i already send back two units of this player with the light issue) i'm planning to let Sony know about the people here that as this issue, that's why i ask again to the owners of this player to see if there are this issue with your players because as AUDIOBREEDER said this does not affect the sound quality but it can affect the durability of it because of the dust that can reach the interior of the player.

Once again many thanks to you all

Hi croqui, I am interested in this player, but as a dap, not for videos. That might be the majority here, so nobody complains. I would buy it anyways, but I want to see it in the flesh first.

Ok i respect your opinion but i must say that is not normal to have this issue in a top of the range headset, and after all Is A SONY that claims to be ON TOP. As i already said i have a smartphone Samsung and don't has this issue and a very cheap Acer tablet without it too. Don't matter what you want to do with the DAP, it must be deffect free as we pay (and a lot) for it. Sony wouldn't make money with me selling me a DAP with manufacturing deffects.

Also, I have the light leaking too but I don't see how come that's a problem. So what?

It's not only the case of dust but more importantly moisture (when leaving the player in the bathroom before taking a hot shower) or even water (from accidental spills) entering directly into the player.

To me thats more of a quality control issue than a performance issue.

Sony had that problem with one of their Xperia S tablets in 2012 which claimed to be waterproof and did a recall. Fortunately I was more interested in the Vaio Duo otherwise I would have been on that boat.

Good thing you bought it at your Sony store and since they replaced it 2 times, even the sales reps know its a problem.

It's people like you that Sony likes, they sold you a Dap With manufacturing issue and you are shut mouth why, did they offer you the dap? Like i said i'm not a rich man and when i spend money buying a thing i want it without manufacturing issues. Sony is giving my money back and i will wait to see what are they gonna do with this matter.

yeah but it's not actually causing anything, therefore what am I supposed to blame Sony with, that I can see a wee bit light? if you don't want, no one is forcing you to buy it. but apart from the fact that you can see some light, it's not disfunctioning or anything, so calm down a bit maybe. If there was a working problem, or something wrong with the sound quality, or something actually disfunctioning, then I wouldn't have 'shut my mouth' ok?

I'm thinking of buying my first DAC, can anyone suggest what would be a good match with the F886, please ? Ideally I'd like something that is small & can fit in a pocket. ( I briefly looked at Cambridge Audio's DACmagic, online. Would I be able to use this with the F886 ? )

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Well concerning the quality why don't you make the test that i suggest you all to do about the equalizer. Perhaps you can tell me why the sony website for USA don't have this player to buy. Check www.sony.com and tell me where it is. Why don't i don't know but i have my suspicious.

Is someone forcing you to buy it or something? Don't buy it then. Problem solved.

do you mean an amp? I don't really see any portable dac that would sound better than the f886.

how an equalizer behaves is very dependent of the track playing (when will it clip?) . and it's not because they give you a +500/-500db range to play with, that they'll recommend using all of it. on old sonys you usually were limited to +3-3db range. it was logical to keep it that way but people kept complaining it wasn't enough.

it's kind of logical that if you push any kind of dsp you will make a mess and have artifacts all over the place. EQ should always be used slightly.

now about why it's not in the US, you would be amazed at how many japanese stuff including sonys, were never introduced to europe or america. for exemple pretty much all the 64giga daps. it's not about defect, they don't think there is a market for those. but you're free to believe that it's payback for WW2 "It wasn't me, give a 128giga version!!!!". because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not all after me!

just to say I also have some crazy ideas, but usually reality is much more simple.

you don't have to be ok with sony, but we are because that's the state of portable audio today.

ak100 with 22ohm output for iems? give me 10 of those!!!!.

dx100 or hm901 for portable with like 6 or 7hours battery and you could build your house with those, the wolf wouldn't be able to blow it away.

wonderful studioV with someone taking a shower in it for you to listen 24/7 and like 10ohm output and no shielding against electromagnetic impulses and pretty much no UI.

look how many people told us how happy they are with those daps.

we've been trained to eat ****, obviously you weren't. I honestly suggest you lower your expectations or find a better hobby (photography is a paradise compared to this but does cost more).

because at the end of the day this sony does a ****load of things better than other daps.

he's trying to make some noise here with the hope that sony will do something about it. it's pretty useless knowing how sony usually doesn't listen to consumers, but you can understand that he doesn't like to settle with half baked products, even if the defect has nothing to do with sound. can't blame him for trying. but yeah ultimately, when I'm unhappy with a product, I get rid of it.

Yes, castleofargh. I love the sound signature of the F886, but I want more volume. ( Euro cap ) Would a portable amp achieve this ? Again, apologies for my ignorance !

then you're looking for an amp. a dac is turning the digital data into "real music"(analog), then the amp part makes sure you get enough juice. you got both in any mp3 player but the amp part is usually pretty weak.

now you need to see what amp is better for your headphone/IEM.

also if you're not familiar with this, you'll have to link the sony and the amp with a LOD cable that is proprietary. I guess the cheapest and easiest/fastest one to come by is the FIIO L5. but you'll find a lot of crazy beautiful LODs for sony in the cable section.

and no need for apologies, we're all someone's newbie and all trying to learn more.
