Walkman NWZ F886 officialy announced!! [192khz/24bits] - Page 55

Hi everyone

For the owners of this player i would like you do this test:

While listen to a track go to audio settings and enter the equalizer. put all bars in -10 and the clear bass in the 0. Now  move  up slowly the bar of 2,5 K. somewhere in it percurse the frquence has changed and not only amplified. Try another frequency and see that only changed the amplification not the frequency itself. when moving up and down the bar all the other frequencies must be in the -10 position.

Tell me me what are your opinions.

What did you mean?

Well..., nobody interested in doing the test? Yesterday i received this player and by tomorrow i'm going to send it back to sony for a refund. I'm realy disapointed with his all performance. The menus are not so good as nwz-f806. The overall quality is worse than the nwz-f806. I sincerly don't hear any diferrence between a hi res track and a normal one-Perhaps that is because of the headphones because they are not so good as the ones that came with nwz-f806. Other bad news is that sony don't sell anymore the nwz-f806 as they said me today. This a waste of time and money in bying the nwz-f886. My player also shows in the upcorners and downcornes there are a white trail of light (in the junction of the screen and the box were it is inserted)- This is very discret but i see it.

Final appreciation         This is a bad player.

Hi croqui, nobody on HeadFi uses the stock in ears that come with the player. You received it 24 hours ago and send it back already? Maybe you should give this player a little more time. You probably need to get used to it first. And yes, this is not the F806, it is a different player.

Ok i will give it at least one week more. I'm trying to buy the f806 but i think that i'm not gonna be kucky in that job. I'm thinking in send it to change for another one because of the issue with the corners light. Do you think that this player with xba-h3 sounds better?

I'm waiting for your comment

You know, I do not own the F886, but I own some decent iems and headphones. And I own the stock iems that came with my NWZ-A845. They sound ok, but all of my collection sound much better. So the XBA-H3 can be your route. But there is no guarantee. It depends on the music you prefer and the sound signature that you expect. But given that a few mature HeadFiers like the F886, I believe you could try the H3 or try getting the EX-1000. H3 is more fun with a good bass boost, the EX-1000 is reference stuff in an epic form. Have both, both blow me away at times......

Ok seriously, with those eaphones, nothing will sound good obviously. Those are super s***. My chinese fake earphones are better quality than those nc31 or whatever it is. Try it with a real IEM.

when I first got the F887 I doubted my purchase after selling my beloved Z1070... give it a week to get used to a new sound as you're being fed a lot more detail SQ wise.

the XBA-H3's are meant to be a good match for the F886/7 & ZX1... Vect has the H3/F886 combo perhaps asking for their thoughts might help.

Somebody called me :)

My impressions with the F886 are seriously impressive, granted however that I have the H3 and I burned in them for quite a while already (initially sound will sound OK-ish... give it a while and becomes superb).

Coupled with the H3 however, I had to equalize the bass, it was too much as it is, once equalized you really have a sort of warm sound, very impressive, without muffling other instruments, in fact I have discovered some instruments that I didn't hear before, also the "surround effect" produced by the wide soundstage is amazing. With the XBA-30 I had this estrange reaction to lower my head bit in order to hear more, with the H3 my head is upright. The more that I hear them the more I like them.

Note that I don't use the original Sony app, rather PowerAMP, the last update seems to have solved the playback hardware controls and now it responds to PowerAMP even with the screen on... (Granted that I use the SBH-52 just as a remote controller, but still).

No Hi-Rez files here though, only 1 flac album and the rest remains AAC 192.

The reason because I got them... is because I saw them at 168 :)

I prefer using Poweramp more than the stock player on my Z as well since there are more eq options. I've been contemplating between the F887 and ZX1 for a while. My Z0170 is however already full so I might have to go for the ZX1, but again I can lower the amount of flac files I have and get the F887. Was quite surprised when OK-GUY said that they both performed the same sq wise. Nice to know they solved the previous problems with the new update.

hi guys,

Does anyone of you know a way to use this player with audio files stored in a cloud on the net without downloading them?

Realplayer app is free for up to a certain amount of space or you can purchase the plex app. Both are cloud servers that play media files. Not sure if either plays high res FLAC files, though.
