I gonna probably get the F887 (64Gb version) from Japan, it has the same hardware. I will probably let you know about the SQ and compare with my Fiio X3 (I use a pair of Westone 4R).

There shouldn't really be an audible difference between the two if they're of the same master.

As for the external amp comment, often times an external headphone amplifier is designed to meet certain specifications that an on-board amp in a portable media player doesn't. i.e. an on-board amp may not be as clean as an external one


Has anyone compared the F880 to the FiiO X3?

It's not that huge really, but I actually wouldn't buy it if it didn't have physical buttons.

Which one sounds cleaner/more transparent? The FiiO products are known to be warm, so I'm curious to know what the F880's sound signature is like next to the X3.

I like the F880's WiFi capability, but at the same time, I like the X3's like out option.
