It is a great upgrade from the NWZ-S545, which unfortunately could not drive the XBA-30 for direct comparison (bass was completely missing)

so if I trust what is said in the review (sounded pretty objective so I'm inclined to believe it all) f886 has either:

-more bass than s545.

-lower impedance (plz plz plz !!!!).

or a little of both.

They're ok sounding and good to get you going if you're on a budget, served me well when I got my WM-Z until I could afford other IEM's, the better the headphone the more you will enjoy your Walkman.

My headphones are noise cancelling, this can be seen by all the stripes they have in the plug.

so it definitely has a volume cap i am not even touching it then...

I think what Vect is saying that they didn't realise the F-Series (&WM-Z) had two volume controls, the first is in the Android settings and must be set to max, the second is the volume on the Walkman which is governed by the volume limit of the first.

Basically if volume is only set to halfway in the Android settings that the max you'll get out of thje Walkman pot, this has nothing to do with Euro-Cap, hth.

PHA-2 arrived just now, lovely piece of kit.

Ok so this might mean the volume cap is not implemented?...is the PHA-2 a portable amp or a desktop amp...

The PHA-2 can be for both portable and desktop use.

There will be a volume-cap no matter what, just by how much you'd have to compare with a non-Euro model, it looked like Vect was implementing his own cap. It might be a good idea for someone to phone Sony-UK and ask if they're thinking about a F886.

To get the highest volume from the Walkman controls, volume must be set to max in the Android settings, you only have to do it once when you get a Walkman then you just use the Walkman controls, hth.

The PHA-2 is what DrSheep said it's both, you may want to get a small bag for portable use it's not the smallest thing.

pricejapan just shipped my F886  hopefully, won't have any trouble in customs. now, I need better IEMs, thinking about pairing it with XBA-H1. what are you using with your F880s?

when using noozy with the f886 i am getting an error that the EIZO failed to initialize EMU.DAC is incompatible,it still plays but the volume also lower,so pretty useless!

Thanks for the update.

Just a little heads up, the battery time on the F886 pretty much sucks, expect to charge it twice a day, and this is not counting playing games or constantly listening to music, this is just from idle and some surfing.
