Walkman NWZ F886 officialy announced!! [192khz/24bits] - Page 30

Regarding sound, everything sounds the same to me:smile:, except the Z has way less bass.

Does the new F886 take more or less time when compared to the older F walkman with the same GB in scanning music files?

Well, the first time y used my F886 I uploaded 2779 songs to it, database update took, at best, 1 minute, after that other songs that I added are automatically added but this is instantaneous.

What type of files were they, Vect ?

Have to agree Vect this unit is a smooth operator, took an hour to load 51gb of Atrac-Lossless (bigger than Flac files, less than Wav). When I disconnected it from the PC, like yours it took all of a minute max to load up (same as WM-Z). On starting all Walkmans require a 10-15sec boot, during this period it scans/updates the database.

The Z-Series bass light... hahahahaha, anyone got a cloth I got coffee all over my screen.

How many songs / albums does that equate to, NG ?

I'm seconds away from ordering one :) How is the battery life by the way? Compared to a non-android Walkman.

I can be a full volume junkie with 'live' music (I'm too old to be concerned with hearing worries), so I get about 18hrs out of a battery charge, otherwise it's about 21+ hours from a charge listening to music (all apps are turned off & it's in full-time airplane mode with a 2min screen timeout)

At the moment it's about 1500 tracks (51gb used, 5gb aprox. free), most my albums have tracks missing as I only upload the tracks I want to hear, there are also 100+ tracks on my WM-F that are over 10mins long, one is 35mins, I have a 'live' music fetish.

Don't know if I should upgrade any more if the sound quality is similar to the Z. But the battery life and size is better. NG do you use Poweramp. Does it still crashes or are there minor skips in the music when using it on the F887. It kind of happens in my Z that can be a bit irritating at times.

I just made a field trip with it, 30 min walk to school and 45 back from it (I had to go to tesco), battery went from 97% to 89% with continuous shuffled playback on my XBA30. 11 hours on stanby were barely the 3% (had charged the f886 the day before it and it was at 100%)

I used poweramp, however the buttons seem to be linked to the walkman app... that it seems to be permanently on memory, not even android sees it since you can lock the screen and have it turned it off but the buttons still work.... or that's why I think at the moment.

F886 just cleared customs so that was mega fast. Should have it tomorrow or Wednesday. I ordered on the 13th from PriceJapan. It took 3 days to get to the US and clear customs. Can't recommend them enough based on shipping speed

I only upload music to it, I'm more than happy with it as it sounds.

Amazon U.K. are carrying stock of this now. Sadly, it's still quoting £299, £40 more than Sony. Is it worth paying that extra ? ( or best to wait ? )

At £300 you'd be probably be better off either a)waiting a couple of weeks more or b)finding an extra £35 or so and order the 64 gig from price japan.

I would wait if i were you the price will come down further ...some guys on here preordered theirs from amazon at £206 i wonder if they received theirs yet? i preordered as well but i cancelled because of the EU volume cap rubbish!!

Bad for you to cancel on a yet to be proven rumour, if anything, you could have always return the product to amazon. I have mine bought from sony store @224 with academic discount and I simply can't believe sound quality, now I just compare it against my desktop.

Do amazon price beat if the item is out of stock on the other website? Was just wondering if they would at least match the sony price.

Edit to add a helpful post on amazon says that sony hope to have stock back in on 25th november at £259. Might be worth waiting till then.

Got to admit it is tempting seeing it sit there like that. Wonder if it's in shops yet?
