I have read that Sony intend to have hi res music available from their own websites. ( as you state. ) I believe it has already started in Japan via moira.jp ( if I've remembered the spelling correctly ? )

My quote on pricejapan was showing a 3.5% charge via Paypal....that was then converted to dollars...if I remember rightly $870 + ( that's of course, for the ZX1 ! )

What are the two hi res tracks, that come with the player ?

Don't Drift Too Far - Elephant Revival - a pleasant little bouncy affair, think it's just to show up the quality, nice banjo, fiddle & upright-bass.

Snowflake - Lara Ruggles - lovely vocals, piano and a deep bass, some subtle drum playing, it's a nice song.

I've deleted all the other stuff.

Sony will have four excellent DAPs available presently all with slightly different flavours, my thinking is only upgrade to the hi-res players if your seriously thinking of making a commitment to the format or there's no real point.

Scrub the above in my case, the ZX1 is so sexy I would of bought it no matter what.

I really must do some paperwork now - I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go

Don't forget the capacity increase of the zx series though.

Not artists i'm familiar with, but I didn't expect anything else.

There's too many daps coming out that I want to buy lol. I'm going to wait for the zx1 to come out before I make a decision but this dap is definitely tempting for me via price japan

I was lucky I funded most of my recent purchases by selling some gear, that said I've lost about £300+ in real terms when you total it all up. At least with hi-fi I knew it would take me years to get upgraditus, the last 15 months since discovering Head-Fi has been a financial disaster though Amazon, Apple & John Lewis have all been accommodating with their returns policy, bless.

I've found something else I can shift to fund some CIEM's, before I list on Ebay thought I'd offer it up to you guys:-

For Sale: 90 year-old Granny in used condition, comes with three sets of new 'deep fill' tena-pads

Condition: Although getting on a bit & used the Granny is still in reasonable working order, comes with frame-mount & mobile push carrier.

Sound: As you'd expect with something of this age it has a unique 'vintage' quality, the highs are still apparent but can sound a bit croaky at times, the high and low mid's can appear to be loose & bloated but the bass in ok providing the tena-pads have a good seal otherwise the low-end will just disappear into the surroundings.

Soundstage: Can be a bit temperamental at times and may come across as a rambling through the range though if you are patient and can put up with wading through urine to get to the controls, you will definitely be rewarded with those rare moments of unbelievable clarity... hi-res OAP's don't get any better than this.

Only selling to fund CIEM upgrade - £1500 offers considered - payment via 'gift' to save on Paypal fees.

Vect, the problem was pretty dire with the A-Series and it did affect the Euro-Z according to some, after my experiences with the A-Series I'm not prepared to fork out for something that could be inferior to the exact same model in Japan or the USA, I'd rather pay a premium.

I have a NWZ-A845, which A model do you refer to with your bad experience?

I haven't had hiss from a Walkman since the S639. My new F887 & previous WM-Z is/were completely hiss free.

I feel the US versions of X (32GB) & A series (32GB) are the best walkmans just because both of them start immediately without any 'scanning'. Both my Z (64GB) & F (32GB) need a few seconds before start-up. I'm wondering how long ZX-1 will take to scan 128GB.

Regarding sound, everything sounds the same to me:smile:, except the Z has way less bass.

Does the new F886 take more or less time when compared to the older F walkman with the same GB in scanning music files?
