Walkman NWZ F886 officialy announced!! [192khz/24bits] - Page 82

Is it possible to send feedback to Sony about f886? 'Clicking' sounds in stand by mode are very annoying :(

Hi there,

first impressions of using a Sony NW-F887. Using it a bit less than a week I find its soundstage much wider then on my good old NWZ-A729. Andoid user interface is almost acceptable though I'd prefer a non-touchscreen option. No idea about battery life as I add more music every day (obviously it's charging then). Storage capacity fills up very fast (I listen to almost only FLACs (CD rips)). Physical buttons could be a little bit bigger. Its sound signature seems to me somehow too bright, I can even notice some harshness (EQ adjustment helps). Does someone else find this DAP bright sounding?

Does somebody here use earbuds? Unfortunately my ears don't like IEMs. What earbuds could be a good match for F887? I have a cheap pair of AKG K314p (was pretty ok with my old lo-res A729) and Sennheiser MX980 (currently being in reparation, need to replace the 3,5 mm jack).

May I ask you how do you deal with this issue? I have never experienced Yuin earbuds (the name suggests that it might be a Chinese product).

Just had an introductory course into CIEM world and I'm interested. What kind of CIEMs do you use with your Sony F? Here in Germany I can find for instance Cosmic Ears BA-1 for pretty decent price of EUR 146. Is it worth the spending to get familiar with the type or better to buy something more expensive? There's a positive review: http://www.head-fi.org/t/634310/review-cosmic-ears-ba1-ciem-definition-of-bang-for-the-buck

Wow.. very very cheap CIEMS.

You can expect a good fit but only one "entry level" balanced armature.

The sound should be a little metalic and no bass and treble extension at all but very detailed and "fast".

At least two balanced armatures IMHO.

I have F806 which is clearly a step up from Clip+. You may find not quite as much power than E11/Clip+ but if F887 is anything like F806 it should sound much cleaner and be a lot nicer to carry around and use. I really like the F806 and was never expecting too. I say go for it, the higher end Walkams are nice pieces of kit.

I really like the sound quality of my F886. Power-wise, you should also check-out the X3. If you just want to upgrade for hi-res files, the X3 is more what you had with the Sansa Clip+ (no Android). ..and you'll probably still want the E11 with the F887 if you were used to with your Sansa Clip+.

Even though I have the F886 and like it a lot, I have to comment on Fiio. Fiio is not the typical Chinese company, Fiio cares a lot about what we on HeadFi want and is absolutely trustworthy. Same is for their official resellers. I have two very nice Fiio amps (E12/E12 LTD). And at least HeadFi  member zilch0md that I highly respect owns the Fiio X5 and was blown away. I will for sure try the X5 later this year too.

What type of case? I'm in Australia though.

I've just ordered a white F886. From Japan. $315AU / $295US.

I'm hoping I don't have any issues with it. Android is a big plus as I use Spotify also. Much prefer the flexibility it gives too.
