Eric, would you say, at 200 usd (getting a huge discount since I'm buying a few other stuff together) for a basshead, the h3 is the best I could do right now?
How about at 300usd? Would the h3 still be the best choice for a basshead iem lover who cant stand stinging trebles? Thanks.

H3 would be perfect for you  in my opinion Ars92. A deal at $300 and a steal at $200

Umm, yup. That was kinda the point of the original question.

There is a bit of unevenness in the treble though which can make them a bit bright or a bit distant depending on what you are listening to. I found a touch of eq to be useful at around the 6 to 10khz region ... still burning in though.

I can't promise you will like it, but I do know it will satisfy a basshead and has great non-harsh treble. It's one of my favorites.

It seems to me he's confusing the xba-H3 with the xba-3:

I use a fxt 90 now and am loving it. Just suddenly had the urge to upgrade as I've had those for a couple of years lol. So in a way, I "should" end up loving it for the sound, and am only more worried about the size and all that. Hope it doesn't end up being hard to bring around (the case looks so much bigger than the jvc ones)

That analogy that listening to the h3 is like watching fireworks on a humid night is perfect. It is not tonally correct and it is not neutral. The bass is plentiful but not super tight.

But it is very very appealing to listen to in a sort of over ripe way. I think of it as my guilty pleasure like listening to the jpop idol/metal hybriD group Babymetal. (don't judge me!)

not me , i have 2 xba-3 , and no xba-h3 , i would love to get one but they are not launched here .

Can we draw a line in the sand over the Bass word now chaps? It holographs, it emits a fantastic sound stage, oodles of detail, it doesn't distort, and it has never made any pretensions to be neutral or studio monitor-ish. If you've grown up with neutrals, then your ears may be averse to bass, which is why I don't review neutrals. The ex swimmer said it was worth every penny, or cent, and it does have the driver from the ex 1000.

Yeah I know right.

I can confirm that these do noticeably improve with ample burn in. I've been comparing them to both my full size cans (Srh1540 and K612) as reference... so its not just brain in. Bass is tamed and tightens up, treble gains detail, soundstage and mids remain...

These are now my favorite IEMs out of all the ones I've tried.

H3
SM64
W4R
SE535LTD
GR07 BE
GR07 MK2
SE215LTD

In DAT order...

I accidentally put my XBA-H3 in washing machine.

After good amount of drying for 2 days..

All sounds better now. @_@
