Sony XBA-H1 and XBA-H3 Hybrid Dynamic and BA IEM - Page 89

We are all entitled to our opinion. I would think tha kimvictor didn't get a good fit because nothing he stated sounds like the H3 I'm hearing. And I've never been a fan of Sony. But oh well. The H3 is one of the best universals I've ever heard.

Well, he's coming from the UERM signature and made no mention of the tape mod. It's conceivable that it just sounds that way to him.

Personally, I have faith and I'm looking forward to hearing the H3 eventually.

Getting the H3s as well, ordered it today and hopefully it'll arrive this week. I truly pray that I will enjoy the sonys as eric does. I'm not saying that sony sucks in sound (as I enjoyed the zx-700's signature), but because the xba-40s were a disappointment to me in terms of tonality in the music (especially the mids, it felt as though the emotion and detail was sucked out), I truly hope the h-3s do not disappoint and kick those former flagships from the face of the planet.

I'm not that worried, though. Most of eric's impressions were exactly what I heard from the fxz100 and the m200. Right now I am digging the m200 and im-02's signature, and hope that the h3 will take the top rank of my earphone collection.

DannyBai has the H3 and also owns or have heard the big guns like the 1+2 and 334. I know he likes the H3 like I do. Might be good to inbox him his thoughts. No tape mod for me. Just good old fashion burn in.

Hi Kim! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

As a fellow headfier who's owned the H200, do you think the H3 is not as technically capable? I'll really appreciate your feedback on this...

Cheers!

Hmm. This was based on 5min demo, so do keep that in mind. H3, to me, had wide soundstage with decay. Nevertheless, it lacked clarity, especially when compared to H-200. In fact, it even lacks clarity when compared to BA200 and GR07! Considering that H3 is a BA/Dynamic iem, I expected much better clarity, just like that of H-200. It just let me down too much on the clarity part. Also, did I mention how big the housing was? It's huge!

Oh, there's a mod for these? And yes, I am coming form UERM sig, but that day, I was comparing the H3 to BA200 and W4, as well as the SE535 the store had for demo. If you haven't heard them, still give them a chance. As always, my words are just based on my preference and thoughts.

Noted, thanks eric. I need some hype to get me in a good mood for those nice phones, lol.

He wasn't coming from that sig that day apparently so not as big of a factor, but as far as I've heard (the 1p2) and read (the 334), both of those have a good amount more dBs in the low end than the UERM so the reference point wouldn't really be there. I am curious to hear what he thinks though.

Tape over the vent and pinhole as far as I can tell. There's talk of it earlier this thread. I'm saying this assuming there is only one vent lol.

I really like the H3 and after comparing to the XBA-40 that I still have, the H3 blows away the 40's, especially in the vocals and treble.  I don't have the pickiest of hearing and enjoy many sounds from various earphones and the H3 ranks as one of the more pleasing sounds I've heard from any earphone.

Hmm...OK so historically, Eric and myself tend to agree with each other in terms of SQ and signature, I am on holiday in Asia at the moment and I saw both H1, H2 , and H3 at a local Sony Centre the other day at $122, $204, and $286 respectively, and therefore his impression towards H3 really piqued my interest in buying one, however, my recent purchases of LSX5 and Unique Melody 3X knda hold me back...

Oohhhh decisions...decisions...

djvkool, to me  $286 for the H3 is a no-brainer. How is that LSX5 shaping up for you though? That really seems like an interesting one there.

I'm not terribly surprised by your findings, I wasn't overly impressed with EX1000 I had on audition, my Rhapsodio v1 Mini (not the 2v1 that got criticized by many myself included ) basically wiped the floor with EX1000 to my ears. Don't get me wrong EX1000 was nice although for a flagship I expected a little more and it hasn't won Sony any favours to try their new Hybrid, that along with my not so fabulous thoughts on their MDR-1R. Go back a few years however I own and adore Sony MDR-V6 for what it is still today.

In my opinion Sony are a mainstream brand, they offer a good dose of sound quality but they do not push the limits of detail and technical ability from my experience. Lets not bash me up because of this shall we? I just find more pleasure in little niche company, smaller establishments, who purely focus on excelling their IEM's, even if that extreme detail is going to cause early fatigue. Of course final judgment is always open until hearing a unit and I shall remain that way for H3.

And with that said I'm off to another thread. By all means enjoy the H3.

My daughter bought for me Sony WM ZX 1 and PHA 2 and XBA H3

Out the box my impression warm ,smooth not sparkle sounding iem
The bass is more to subwoofer bass.

Until now I am still burning but NOT all the time since 12 December 2013
If I like iem out the box for sure I use every day for burning too
This Sony XBA H3 is opposite what I like detail and clarity , speed and very good bass impact
That's why last night I just took and burn in again over night

Source : sony WM ZX 1
Amp : RSA RS 71 B
Iem : sony XBA H3
Cable : mini to mini diy I choose extra the breitest and detail ones
Music :
The way my burn in process for iems and headphones

Safri duo track nr 4 to improve bass speed , detail and clarity
Chinese Tibet song to improve high more sparkle
Take dake the roots of Asian to improve separation
Da da wa track nr 7 to improve bass not so boomy

Every songs I repeated 5 times , If I heard the bass still not tight to my ear , I put safri duo track nr 4 again and again.

Volume a little bit Lauder what my max volume about 1 o clock to 2 o clock I can hear

The result :
I hear now after 6 hours burn in with amp , got little sound quality improvement
High is more clear and clean , better clarity
Mid : more clear and clean
Bass : has better impact and not so boomy like sub woofer bass
Separation : is better , out the box to much bass , I can hear less detail
Soundstage : is wider

But still has not reach what I want

I hope can improve more after 50 hours burn in
Totally from out the box I use less than 20 hours

IMO

Hi Rudi,

Why not just leave the playlist on repeat overnight?

That way you don't have to listen after every 5 songs...
