E09K with E07K combo questions

Thread Starter

Hi all!

I currently am in possession of the Fiio E07K 'andes' and the Fiio E09K to dock it in. I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find the answers I am looking for. There are a few things I want to know.

Basically I don't quite understand yet how these two interact. I read somewhere if docked, the E07K will be serving as a DAC and the E09K will deliver the power (for higer impedance headphones and that it will make quite a difference) but how does this work precisely?

Second, I want to know if I can use the EQ settings on the E07K while being jacked in to the E09K on the front. I tried adjusting the volume and EQ settings but didn't get any response. Though when I jack in to the E07k itself (while docked) I can change volume and EQ settings but not adjust the volume through the E09K.

I hope my questions make sense.

When the E07K is docked to the E09K, then E09K is then able to take in a digital audio signal (zeros & ones) thru the E09K's USB input, the digital signal is then sent from the E09K's USB port to the E07K DAC (WM8740), where the E07K's DAC converts the digital audio signal into an analog audio signal (wave), that signal is then sent to the E09K's headphone amplifier, then to the E09K's headphone output.

(The E07K's headphone amplifier is bypassed and not use by the E09K).

Not sure on the E07K's EQ settings.
