Need a new Portable Media Player

Thread Starter
Hi head-fi forums, I'm looking for a new portable media player as my Zune HD 64GB died a sad death a month ago. Currently I'm using my phone (Nokia 510) as a replacement, but I want something more.

What I'm looking for is a PMP that:
  • Small/Light/Compact with good/decent battery life
  • Has an easy to use "Add to now playing" feature
  • 64GB Size (SD Card if it integrates into the library fine)
  • not a dealbreaker but Last.FM Scrobbling

Now, I feel a bit lost but that's basically what I need. I'd continue to use my phone but it feels so stripped down and battery performance is terrible.
Anyone on Head-fi got some secret recommendations that may help me? I'm a bit wary about buying an iPod.

Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip, use the Rockbox firmware for more features.

Clip Zip 4GB $35-$45, plus a 16GB or 32GB Micro-SD memory card ($10-$20).

Maybe get a portable USB battery charger.

Hi,  I try to keep it as simple as possible -- meaning, one less thing to carry around, so why not use your phone?  I'm using my Note 2 with a removable 64GB micro SD card and with a wide variety of app choices to use with your music, it's a nice way to go... and you can use Cloud services as well for music storage. If you need a new phone, think about getting one that allows for digital out via USB, that way, you can hook-up a portable amp/dac unit as well.  Just another option instead of getting a dedicated stand alone player.
