They will sound better with a better DAC and or headphone amp. For your PC, it's the sound card that matters. You won't know till you plug them in and turn it up...

I have mixed suggestions from people. Some said that because I have the latest pc specs (i7 Haswell, ASUS Z87-PRO Motherboard) That I don't have to worry about the sound card as my onboard audio is just as good as other sound cards, some said I still need it. Anyway can someone please take a look at my motherboard onboard audio specs and see if it's good enough and no need for sound card? Thanks! Here are the specs:

I recently ordered the Ath pro500mk2. was torn between them and the m50. I have tried the m50 and they are studio monitors which are not very loud on portable devices like smart phones. I can comfortably listen to music at 50% with most dirt cheap headphones but m50 required 75% volume plus isolation is not enough on there. I am waiting for the ath pro500mk2 to arrive, they should arrive this week or early next week. I got the red ones as the black didnt stand out for me. The ATH m50 sell for around $160-$180. They might sell for $100-$120 used but not much lower whereas the pro500mk2 are selling for $108 brand new direct from Japan. I will try and make a youtube video review on them once I test them thoroughly.
