What is better than the Sennheiser Momentum for the same price??? - Page 8

how can i get better sound imackler?

I like the momentums guys believe me... i just wish they were not as laidback sometimes with edm...

I am very curious about the amperiors because i always wanted to try the hd25's because some of my favourite producers use them (arty, above and beyond, andrew rayel...) and also based on the sound descriptions they seem perfect for edm.

The problem is that not even the hd25 is sold in my country... at least in a physical store, so i absloute no way of testing it.... they seem perfect but in the end i may not even like them....

Still i am very curious about them... the only thing that keep me stepping back is that you guys are saying that in terms of resolutionand clarity they are a step back to the momentums.... i dont know if i want that....

If they all costed 170 euros....

You guys would rate them like this in terms of sound quality, clarity and resolution (sound definition)...

1. Momentum

2.Amperior

3.Hd25

??

Or is the hd25 still a better value than the amperiors?

If you're not limited to Sennheiser, you might want to include Focal Spirit One to that list. It's like the Momentum but slightly more treble and slightly more bass.

I'm having a tough time beating the Momentum personally. You can get better sound. You can get better isolation. But the comfort to sound ratio of the Momentum just makes you want to grab it again and again.

Lol!

I'm at work now and only in the last weeks have I found a proper replacement, or upgrade rather, to the momentum. Ultrasone sig pro. It sounds better, yep, but matches/surpasses the momentum on the other factors that make the ideal portable headphone. Long term comfort, convenience, looks, driveability, isolation, leather (sweat 'resistant') pads.

On the sound front it just feels like the upgrade to the momentum. The highs are not enhanced and combined with a competent soundstage, layering, toning, bass response and a pleasing midrange reproduction, we've got something well suited for long term listening.

I've tried many, including the KEF m500, ultrasone DJ, akg k167, MDR 1R, HD25 and a lot of others, but they all have faltered in one way or another. It's testament to the well thought out design and sound tuning of the Momentum I would say.

I think you need to decide if you like the Momentums or not, personally I did not find them particularily slow or laid back compared to most Sennheisers, pretty good balance of mids / treble and decent speed as well. I have not heard anything that is better at the price, except for the comfort and soundstage is lacking.

If you do not like them... You need to just buy some other headphones and try them yourself, you can ask as many times as you want which is best... But everyone hears differently and likes different things.... In terms of technical ability you have already got the answers of which are the best at the price...

If you can pick up some used Denon D2000/D5000... They might be what you are looking for, although they are NOT portable.

Sony MDR 1R is one of my favourite atm. It beasts the sound quality compared to the momentum (I have them both)

Objectively the Sony are not as good, maybe subjectively you prefer them though.

I think i am going for the amperiors, the hd25s or the MDR 1rs m8... All of them cost around i paid for the momentums (160 euros)...

I know that maybe nome of them will be bettter but i really have to let my momentums go... I have beebeen really struggling to fight the disconfort but they start making my ears hurt sooner or later... Lovely Sound but if there is pain involved i simply want be able to enjoy them...

Actually and as stupid as it may Sound i am in a 8 or 800 situation with my two main headphones right now... :-D the memomentums are small and make my ears hurt and my m50 are just awkward to wear because they are too damn big. either the MDR 1rs or the AMP/hd25 suita my needs or i guess i will simply start looking for iems instead of headphones....

I got both and returned the Sony MDR-1R and kept the Momentum. The Sony was more comfortable, however, it's sub-bass was lacking. Even though the spec goes very low down to 4 Hz, the spec doesn't say at what dB. Apparently this was written by lawyers because at where I could plainly hear sub-bass with the Momentum's the Sony's struggled to get any notice whatsoever.

The momentums have clamping force and small pads. Its a change from uncofortable tosslightly less unconfortable... :-D

By the way, there are tons of MDR 1rs on eBay UK... Too bad they are all black...
