it's quite easy to do, but you'll need a lot of patience. i spray painted it too because the neutrik plugs are silver, i want to maintain the black color scheme.
How did you cut the metal plugs?
i didn't cut anything, what i did was just remove 1 part.
the right most part (the one with metal and rubber) - all i did was remove that cylindrical part, then connect the rubber part directly to the right angle part - you now have a modified right angle neutrik plug!

but doesn't the right part screw on to make it tight?
I'm curious about the Leckerton UHA-760 as well, but I don't think I'll be holding out for the coax version. For that to be an improvement, the UHA needs to have a better DAC and implementation than that of the DX50.
the black one isn't plastic (at least with what i got), it's rubber. you can easily remove it from the metal, cylindrical part - no need to cut it.
ah yes, i've also used the plastic version. it's the same process. the black cylindrical part doesn't need to be cut out as it just screws into the right angle part. you now need a strong plastic adhesive to make sure everything stays put.
