Merry Christmas to all, I´ve been listening to DX50 and Sennheiser momentum/HD650 the hole day, I really like this, I thought I could try different IEMs and Headphones just to enjoy time but haven´t been able to change more than two headphones, I´m impressed. I saw that Sorensiim got his new amp and that makes me wonder...

Yep. That's the simpler of the two playlist workarounds. In my version I take advantage of DX50's lack of support for Ogg tags and comments. DX50 plays Ogg Vorbis files perfectly well, it just doesn't do anything with the tags beyond "(null)" everywhere and showing the file name instead of the track name. Which is perfectly fine if all I care about is that it plays these 3169 tracks in the order that I've specified. If I want pretty then I'll go back to one of my iPods smily_headphones1.gif.

I am just starting to explore the benefits of the digitally adjustable line out. It makes using the Medium and High gain settings on the Pico Power more practical. With 1.2.6, the different Pico Power gain settings are producing subtle but meaningful different results with the Heaven VI. Dropping the DX50 line out volume by 10-20% opens all sorts of interesting possibilities.

Lots of fun...

Wouldn't you want to max the volume of the lo on the 50 to obtain the best sound quality?

I don't understand what you are experiencing analogue 3.

I go into: My Music > Directory > SD card...   It definitely then browses by folder and by file name on my DX50.

I am using two digit numbering for my files: 01, 02, 03...

Deleting file tags sounds like a terrible solution...!

Well that is the question. I always assumed yes. Now however there is some good discussion on here to suggest that digital lowering of volume does not have a material affect on sound quality with 16/44 files.

I am interested to hear more on this.

Most people recommend setting the volume of the DAC at 75% and above.

But just to make it simple, I turn it all up and just fiddle with the volume on the external amp. That way the DAC volume is constant.

The only issue is with very sensitive phones. If I use O2 paired with DX50 and JH16. I can't turn the volume pot on the O2 past 10 o'clock or I'm going deaf.

I find myself turning the volume in DX50 at 235 - 245 so I can turn the pot on O2 past the 12 o'clock position. It's a bit of a pain coz you have to be mindful of 2 volume controls instead of just one.

^^^same here.  I have to lower the volume on the DX50 to get better travel on the external amp pot.  So far I do not hear any degradation of the SQ.

For me it is mostly playing around because I keep coming back to Low gain on the Pico Power with the DX50 line out at full volume. It is great though to have that volume flexibility.

The only thing better than silicone case? Leather of course.

Got this from the Vietnam seller / manufacturer (here), Just email the guy for detail. He can do express shipping as well as snail mail, so ask carefully as the price range can vary a lot. As cheap as I am, I opted for the snail mail and it took about 2 weeks to arrive (*consider that Vietnam is pretty close to Malaysia, but holidays can really slow things down).

The overall built quality is really good. As you can see from the picture, the stitching and cut are fairly precise. I did ask and reconfirm for a blue case but they still send me a black one (which is the default option, I guess). But it is nice enough that I don't really want to waste more time sending it back for an exchange. Just one warning though, the side buttons are harder to press with this case.

ahhh it looks so nice. I wish i had the cash to burn to get it though

Don't those cases allow for heat build up, ie you can't get air around the chassis of the DX50? When I had the DX100 (review unit) I slipped it into my camera bag's compartment as I went around trying other headphones, then when it was my turn on the T1, I reached for it and it was hot as a Class A amp.

Just upgraded to the newest firmware and gave it a listen (via the coax output, using the DX50 as a transport into my DacIt/Lyr home rig). Soundstage got a HUGE upgrade, there is now a ton of separation between instruments and singer/instruments. I want to say the sound lost some of the darkness, but I think that is more the openness coming through. It was a fantastic upgrade, as far as clarity goes. And I'm using my Aperex Lyr tubes, which are known for plump, full vocals, not soundstage prowess.

Is anyone else using their DX50 primarily as a transport via the coax like me? None of my other sources have a coax output and USB is pretty meh on the devices I've tried, so the DX50 has seen a lot of usage as a transport from me. Only time I use it for anything else is to line-out to my car's aux jack.
