The scanning problem with the new file system is somewhat better and almost makes scanning issues a thing of the past but it still has it's initialization issues as reported earlier on the post. The progress bar is such a relief but you'll definitively complain about gapless in this version. I listen to Trance with 1.2.6 and to be honest I prefer the transition, in majority of EDM set transitions xfading is a common technique and really find the transition rather smooth. But it's me and I certainly prefer cross fading than one second transition delay that truly annoys me.

You're files, were they ripped directly with iTunes from CD or downloaded from the iTunes Store? If so You might want to try doing a complete tag strip of your files using MP3Tag an see if that helps. The only other option would be to dump the files and start from scratch and rip from CD using another ripper. My stuff was all ripped in 16 bit from CD or converted from HDTracks FLAC 24 bit using iTunes and it works fine. Not really sure what might be going on with your files. If it's a codec issue or a gapless playback bug with the DX50 you're the first user I've run across on here with that sort of problem.

@digitalfreak: the scanning is so much better on the latest FW, mine use to take an age. An hour or two for a fresh scan.
@gintaras: thanks man, its a T1 amp. Love that thing! Just stuck it in an old mp3 player sock.

I feel we need more pics and to just drop gapless, as it's boring as **** now IMO.

Using DX50 with my HD598 (which I've always found that has weak bass) I've noticed that bass have been really improved in quantity and impact! Listening Lamb of God I can now feel really violence in sound that wasn't present before! Love this DAP.

PS: speaking of firmware 1.2.6

Hello All,

I noticed that iBasso's website has been down for the last 18 hours. Is it possible they are already going to release another firmware update? I am currently out of town but my DX50 was delivered on Saturday!

Regards

Jeff

I received a response from iBasso regarding the battery life issue:
Hi,
If your DX50 is not powered off, it keep consuming battery, since the CPU is working. This is normal.

Sincerely
iBasso Audio

So, there you have it.

I am still using 1.2.2 and have concerns about an upgrade..  Once you start fooling with the sound and changing what I consider a working FW, well......I won't change what works for me...... I'll wait and continue with 1.2.2..........I am not a lab subject to experiment on.

Man this thread is W O R K.  But I love it.  If gapless is finished, let`s go back to that topic of how different batteries affect sound quality!

And if you want more pictures, here`s one for the season.

Every thread is a conversation.  Not everything will be of interest to every reader.

I do not care about cases, playlists, OTG, album art - I easily skip these posts without whining that they are not of interest to me.

But, if it will work, I will proclaim: Post only what I care about!

I've had no direct experience with this but... it is possible. If the power is choppy or noisy then anything using that power could be adversely affected. If the nominal voltage is on the low edge of what is required then a fluctuation, or high power draw uSD card or flash drive, could have an adverse effect. I have no evidence that the batteries iBasso uses can exhibit this kind of problem. There is a post a ways back to the effect that swapping in a genuine S3 replacement battery eliminated noise on one DX50.

I've been tempted to fork over for a high capacity S3 battery. Batteries Plus (there's one near where I live so no shipping) has a Ray-O-Vac 4800mAh S3 battery for about $45. Anyone around have experience with these or similar?
