how long did it take to you to receive your package? ( I mean from ordering till you receive your package)

Well, MP4Nation oversold their stock, so I had to wait until the next batch. So, that right there was a two week wait.

But, from the time that it shipped, it was a day until it was at my house.

For me it was like 48 hours. Absurdly fast

@Kukyo

Fair comments :) thanks. Don't get me wrong I do love the sound and I love the device The price made it affordable for me as well. As with most rants there are other related things that combine to annoy me about these issues.

Its mainly just that Ive had the device since v1.1 and Ive had so many difficulties with it.

When I bought it I was so excited and fell in love with the sound quality . . .  but then the issues with the UI started.

I simply expected the device to work. !?!

Im sure v1.2.5 would be more stable but I really don't get on with the sound quality so what to do?? Its function is to produce audio

So do i use a firmware that is more stable but i dont like the sound or use a less stable firmware but that sounds great?

I was going to post and ask if there was a new firmware coming out soon ?

You made me laugh commenting about using different headphones to get a different sound...Oh how the other half live!! Sadly I don't have the money to buy numerous headphones just as an EQ method! :D

On the other hand Im very lucky to have found my perfect headphone. Im totaly in love with the Grado sound so I have no desire to look further - 325 cans and the GR 10 IEM are audio heaven for me.

Good point though,I think youre right in that this device is for audiophiles

...anyway...sorry, was just letting off steam.

Lucky you then

Im making the point that many people are having problems with freezing / blank screens / having to reset

Perhaps not luck at all. I'm running on a released firmware; you've stuck yourself on a beta build that's known to be problematic in the ways you describe. You might want to install a released firmware before complaining about bugs that have been fixed.

As for the point about 1.2.5 not being problem free? The same is true for every generation of iPod. I've had one of each except for the first and the fifth r2. Every one has had problems of one sort or another, from flawed hardware designs to flaky playback to weird sound issues. At least two of them cost me around $600 apiece so I'm willing to cut some slack for a better-sounding player that cost me half that price including the 64GB card.

DX50? Best media player I've ever owned, bugs and all. Second best was my old Nomad Jukebox with a 20GB HDD replacing the original 6GB HDD. That was a great player. But hey, that's me, and I'm not you. Maybe DX50 isn't for you.

The DX50 is the finest sounding player Ive heard. i love it

As i already explained though the v1.2.5 STILL has many bugs and [for me] has a sound quality that is no where near as good as the v1.2.3...

soooo something that works a bit better (1.2.5) but sounds worse or something that sounds great but is buggy ??

(that should have worked WHEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC) = my main issue

It looks like we have had opposite experiences :) All my previous devices worked after I bought them with no problems but the DX50 is just bug city for me although, again Im beyond happy with the price and the [over all] sound quality.

Anyhoo - I feel confident and rejoice in that when we are all 'in the zone' listening on our devices we will all be, im sure, experiencing something quite special... audiotorially speaking... end of the day thats the main thing 'in it :)

For certain values of "worse". I found 1.2.3b to have too much bass. Everything from the upper mids (tenor vocals) through the highs are overwhelmed by the bass and that's saying something for KNS-8400 headphones. While 1.2.5's soundstage is noticeably smaller, it is a much better overall sound in my opinion.

Edit:
headwhacker's post on the topic is #7267, and mine is #7287, in case you want to go digging back in the archives.

I don't know how they did it for $239. I stand by what I have said that it is better than the AK100, which is 3 times the price and my AK100 has the modification, which improved the sound by removing the output resistor. All IMO.

I wonder what the deal is, I had to wipe it down pretty extensively to get whatever was on it off.

Hi

We've been looking into this issue with the Brainwavz R3 as we have had a few people with the same issue. We went through some of the R3 stock we had and found one that has the same issue and looked into it. It seems that during soldering process during the assembly of the plug and cable some residual flux has been left. our other speculation is that during one of the final stages of QC the R3 housing is cleaned with a oil based liquid, this removes any dirt or markings from the manufacturing process, we belive some of the line workers may have also cleaned the plug with the same cloth which then lest oil residue on the plug.

This is not something that is easily noticed and our QC process for the R3 production was not checking for this as it would not have been something spotted during the audio check of each unit. It will be something that will be checked on future production runs.

I've found using a alcohol based cleaning tissue/wet wipe can sufficiently clean the connector to remove any unwanted residue.

Sorry about this and i do thank the Head-fi community for bringing this to our attention. We'll make sure this doesn't happen again.

Raz

Most of the components are a step down from top of the line. The cost difference between top of the line and a step or two down is upwards of an order of magnitude. Really. The 8GB flash chip in DX50 goes for around $4.50; the 64GB flash chip in DX100 goes for around $40.00. DX100's Sabre DAC lists at $65; DX50's Wolfson DAC is about $12.50. DX100 has a substantially larger display, an optical output jack, full working Android support (not sure if there's a license fee for that). All of these things add up.

Finally got my DX50 case from Ibasso and looks great and fits like a glove, best 8 dollars I've spent in awhile. On another note I sold a few of my unused items I hardly use and have a few hundred extra dollars in my wallet and for once in a long time I don't want to spend it on audio. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with me or what. Weird.

I know right, that is actually one of the items I sold. I have a X3 and the DX50 and they sound great all by themselves.

Ahhh...excuse me, but speaking of "unused items" how do you use 2 DAPs? I would say right there's another couple-a-hundred bucks tied up that should be in your wallet.

The same way we all use 15 pairs of headphones.

I never much liked form-fitting cases and such. They add bulk without really offering anything useful. I do like microfiber pouches. I try to get me a few of these when I have the credits and they're available:
